Why won't this series just die, plz. kthx.

I don't understand this negativity.

Don't like the series? Then DON'T play it.

There are a lot of us that like to play games for fun and don't really care about the realism.

While I'm at it, I'm really going to enjoy Burnout 3 (Sept 7) and Flatout (Nov 5). Don't bother commenting on them either.

Maybe I wasn't clear enough, but if you make a game based on WRC then you should also know which nationalities compete in it.

Additionally your comment is dated by over a decade.

Similar ignoranse from the developers side tells a lot about them, which is clearly also shown in the aim of this game and the quality of it.

I am sure some more open minded people would agree.

On playing through Germany and watching the playback, there's some definitely wonky physics going on there, with the car sidestepping and shuffling at times...

Im sure this isnt 'red orchestart racing' ok raptor,

so what if they dont include "estonia" just because youre from estonia doesnt mean everyone else on this planet knows that-

heres some pence- invest in some life.

youll be happier.

Dear Codemasters,
I have a mouse - please let me use it on your "excellent" menu system!
Incidentally, I also have a keyboard, it would be wonderful if I could enter my name using the magical letters on some of the keys!

Hmm, unsure how I feel about this one.

The good:
-the bumpy view, overall feel of track, (some of) the handling nuances - these all make the driving feel believable.
-Also, it's good there's so much slowdown when you go off-track (more so than in Rally Championship).
-Graphics are pretty spiffy, you can "feel there" if you let yourself get into it.

The bad:
-MAJOR consolitis. Try it and you'll see.
-Why are tracks (at least, these in the demo) so damn small? Give me RC's 27 mile tracks, baby!

I'm currently undecided about this one.

Proves the point that everything has to have an arcade spinoff.

Yes! Great, isn't it?

As for your other arguments, I guess there's no point in replying to a "flaming rant".

Huh, why are they still making this console arcade disgrace racing game and call it wrc.
Proves the point that everything has to have an arcade spinoff.

Already got my target set as Richard burns rally, but still gave this demo a spin.

Couldn't switch from mph to kph
bad physics and driving
Graphically boring.

Cowdriver directions are horribly misleading and the icons on the screen are equally useless.
Very desynched stuff. Did atleast 5 wrong turns because of that.

Additionally if they want to do a wrc game they better do some more research on actually which nationalities are involved in it. Would have been nice to include an estonian flag there, since Marko Märtin is a world class driver there, but I guess that's too much to ask since they have had 2 years to fix that.
I consider that ignorance.

There's only so far you can go with dumbing down a sport for the mainstream, but I think they are going a bit too far here with the arcade stuff, atleast keep it on console then where that kind of stuff belongs.

Sorry if this came as a flaming rant, but well, that's what it was. I am tired of yearly EA style releases, especially such low quality ones.

In the end however, it's still the same rally game as 2004 was. Just a bit more polished.

Heh - that's exactly what I told a friend of mine 10 minutes ago. Note that's not a bad thing, I liked CMR04 a lot.
Apparently they added a lot of cars, too, whole new types even. And the career mode sounds a bit more fun than the fairly unforgiving rally mode of 04. They also added a funky effect when you hit something, some sort of a motion blur. And allegedly you can now break and bend street signs and such, although I didn't see that in game (I avoided hitting them). And I love how one of the German tracks is near a city that's just about ~20 monutes from here.

It's noticeably better than 2004. I especially like how the tracks feel more open in general. I wonder if all the tracks are going to be as interesting as these demo ones are - they're much more remarkable than 2004's tracks were.

Did you try it? I can't until I get back from work. I'm growing tired of rally games.
