Sonic Heroes to PCs

Sega announces plans for the platform action of Sonic Heroes to PCs:
SEGA TO BRING SONIC HEROES TO PC

SAN FRANCISCO (August 18, 2004) - SEGA® of America today announced that it will publish a PC version of Sonic HeroesTM, the popular action platformer released earlier this year on Microsoft XboxTM, Sony PlayStation®2, and Nintendo GameCubeTM.

Sonic Heroes challenges gamers to control three characters simultaneously; each offering the unique individual ability of speed, power, or flight. Multiple teams follow their own unique story paths across 14 massive stages. Their combined objective: to thwart the plans of Sonic's arch nemesis, the nefarious Dr. Eggman.

Sonic Heroes is designed to appeal to players of all ages and skill levels as they experiment with four unique teams comprised of classic Sonic friends and foes for a total of 12 playable characters. Sonic Heroes also includes seven multi-player mini-games to ensure maximum replay value.

Since its multi-platform release in January, 2004, Sonic Heroes has sold more than 1.83-million copies worldwide. Sonic The Hedgehog® has spanned several generations of videogame systems to appear in over 30 games that have sold more than 35 million units of software. Consistently a top-selling franchise, Sonic The Hedgehog continues to be a popular icon worldwide in 2004 and one of the most recognized and celebrated video game characters of all time.

Sonic Heroes is rated "E" for Everyone and is expected to ship in November, 2004. For screenshots and artwork visit the SEGA FTP site at: http://segapr.segaamerica.com/.

Two contenders; one named Mario, one named Sonic.

Both went 3D.

Mario's first 3D game was an instant classic and has had many good 3D games since.

Sonic...is still trying to figure things out.

Thinking they need to get rid of the crappy camera and half of the 50 playable characters,
Ray

To be honest, any Sonic after Sonic and Knuckles on the Megadrive (Genesis) was a pale imitation of the first few. The series went downhill with complexity.

Amen to that brother. Maybe I should pull out my Genesis and hook it up instead of all this emulator crap.

Actually that was 100% acurate to the Dreamcast original!

The original sonic adventure had a few problems, but I didn't think the camera was that bad. In 2, it was horrible, though. At times, you were expected to make these blind jumps, with no idea where to land.

I was really excited when they ported SA to the cube...until I heard the framerate sucked...

Thinking the sonic collection of 16 bit games on the gamecube is a blast (and enjoying sonic spinball),

I will think peaceful, happy thoughts about getting my new video card RMA'd.

Yea.. Sega doesn't do a good job with their ports. Sonic Adventure DX for pc was horrid.. ugly console port filled with some really bad textures and a hideous camera system.

Actually that was 100% acurate to the Dreamcast original!

Trouble is Sonic Heroes also has the same horrible camera problems. I rented it for my 5 year old but she couldn't get her head around being 3 characters at once (she just wanted to be the pink one). I played it a little bit myself also but it was instantly forgetable and not much fun.

I do hear that Sonic Heroes isn't really that bad..most reviews say its simple, fun and fast. Who knows.. maybe it'll be ok.
