on plans for open beta testing for TRIBES: Vengeance. The update stresses that
there is no official release date, but they describe tentative plans to begin an
open multiplayer test as early as this month:
It is expected sometime this month, August, but that is subject to change if there are more bugs or other items that need fixing before it is released for testing.

And logically, its because they're gradually ramping up their testing base. It's a nice way to work out bugs before it gets to your main audience and turns off a bunch of people from the game.
All speculation, of course. It's probably just the idiots in marketing.
