A post to the Vivendi Universal Games Forums (thanks GameGossip) has word on plans for open beta testing for TRIBES: Vengeance. The update stresses that there is no official release date, but they describe tentative plans to begin an open multiplayer test as early as this month:

It is expected sometime this month, August, but that is subject to change if there are more bugs or other items that need fixing before it is released for testing.

Fileplanet exclusives SUCK. I don't understand why companies do this. Why wouldn't you want your demo in the hands of potential customers as soon as possible?
