Long-awaited Doom 3 hits the UK is a BBC article announcing the availability of id's latest in the U.K. (thanks Mike Martinez). The article discusses the game, as well as the heightened level of sensitivity to violent games across the pond at the moment based on the recent murder that some are attempting to connect with Manhunt (story). In related news, MCV reports the possibility of shortages of the new release, quoting U.K. retailers complaining that they don't have sufficient stock to meet demand, while quoting Activision defending themselves by pointing out that retailers all over Europe are being screwed by high demand, and that U.K. retailers are not being singled out.

yeah I cancelled amazon and have ordered from somewhere else who claim to have it in stock. not saying who they are until i see a shipping confirmation though

somewhat ironically, i'd originally pre-ordered from SomewhereElse, but changed it to amazon because they screwed up in similar fashion with my Far Cry pre-order. Worse, I was staying in the city for the week until friday, and could have picked it up from a number of shops, but thought my parcel would either be sitting at home or at least be en-route.

also came home to find the other shift key has broken now, and have to resort to using a mouse button assigned to it ;/
