Long-awaited Doom 3
hits the UK is a BBC article announcing the availability of id's latest in
the U.K. (thanks Mike Martinez). The article discusses the game, as well as the
heightened level of sensitivity to violent games across the pond at the moment
based on the recent murder that some are attempting to connect with Manhunt
(story). In related news,
MCV
reports the possibility of shortages of the new release, quoting U.K. retailers
complaining that they don't have sufficient stock to meet demand, while quoting
Activision defending themselves by pointing out that retailers all over Europe
are being screwed by high demand, and that U.K. retailers are not being singled
out.

Exactly. If you're looking for a Resident Evil type of FPS, this is it. I'm really enjoying it. But if you're expecting big rooms w/ 10-15 imps or 5 hellknights (like the original Doom), you're probably going to be let down.

If you preordered, and they're telling you that date, I'd be raising hell (no punt intended). There's no excuse for that. Cancel it and order elsewhere...

Pirates were getting "their"* DOOM3 maybe 10 days ago? I pre-ordered a month ago, still havent got it - and the Amazon account page says a rather optimistic Sept 27th, (optimistic of course in them thinking that I'd actually wait that long).
