This Grand Theft Auto has the most closely-modeled-after-a-real-city look of all. The first one looked sort of New Yorkish, but could be a stand in for a lot of dense cities. The second one looked like it belonged in Miami. But this one is clearly Los Angeles in every way. But why is the Capital Records building in downtown?

I thought it couldn't be done, cause LA is too sprawled out. I'm looking forward to pretending I'm Vincent in Collateral.

Yes, the gamecube audience is thirsty for blood. That's why Mario Dress Up and Luigi's Powder Room are the top sellers on that system.

Its for the PS3 and XBox2, and the wireless handheld is probably the GBA 2 screen / semi-replacement thing (whose name escapes me).

Long way off for this game anyway - 2006 or even 2007.

Given that the graphics on the PS3 and Xbox will be near life like wonder if they will tone down the killing moves.

I played GTA3 on the PC a while back. It was an OK game. I emjoyed it more for the novelty of the genre, since it was the first GTA or GTA-style game I every played. I was looking forward to Vice city, expecting a vast improvement over GTA3. I played the Xbox version of it and was pretty disappointed that the graphics or gameplay hadn't improved much. OK they had different cars, different scenery, bigger maps, more music, but the game itself was nothing special. Looking at the screens for GTA:San Andreas looks like they're just releasing another "expansion pack". The graphics are pretty sub-standard now, and I'm sure the gameplay hasn't changed that much either.

the game was a more like a peice of art, or a good movie...

if you didnt like it you werent paying enough attention - the soundtrack alone is more than worthy of the purchase

Looking at the screens for GTA:San Andreas looks like they're just releasing another "expansion pack". The graphics are pretty sub-standard now, and I'm sure the gameplay hasn't changed that much either.
The problem with the GTA:SA graphics is they are PS2 constrained. Although Rockstar get better and better at eeking the most out of the PS2 (and arguably only Gran Turismo 4 beats it in the scale / quality ratio) they are still running into laughably low limits, like 32Mb of RAM. Now, when they come to release a PC version, although they have some seriously powerful hardware (in comparison to PS2 or XBox) as their target, the game engine is designed for the PS2 and to rewrite it entirely is just not going to happen. That's why Vice City is a PS2 game but requires ridiculously high system specs in comparison to the original PS2. Admittedly the system requirements are not "ridiculous" now, but at release, they were quite steep.

However... the graphics are not really sub-standard by PS2 standards, remember they are 300x200 (approx - please correct) for a tv screen. At 1024x768, 1280x1024 etc like they'd be in the (as yet unannounced) PC release they'd look a heckuva lot better.

As for gameplay, horses for courses. No it won't have changed much. Refined, new features, new side attractions, but at the end of the day you'll be a guy that runs around a city doing missions and becoming the city bigshot criminal. If that ain't your bag, plenty more fish in the gaming sea

Personally, I love the GTA series
