AC is the only decent MMORPG that I have played. Maybe I will give it another try when this expansion comes out.

Really? I briefly played the open beta because my system at the time couldn't handle it. So, I never really got to check the game out. What would it be like for a total newbie to start now? Is everyone just way too advanced, therefore leaving me noone to group with? Do I even need to group?

This is AC1, a much better game then AC2 ever was.

A new server was launched in June called Verdantine. Turbine has made the low levels pathetically easy now. There is a quest that involves retrieving an item from a dungeon (a high-level dungeon, but it's camped to hell) and turning it in for XP. The XP will take you from level 1 to somewhere in the 20s I think.

Grouping is not required (especially at lower levels) but in some dungeons you can get much more XP by grouping. It's quite easy to get in a group, sometimes I've been invited into them by just being in a dungeon.

It's funny how this game continues to live up despite having a sequel with much better graphics and many other improvements. Asheron's Call is extremely content rich. It'll most likely continue to be the only MMORPG I play as long as it continues to receive worthwhile updates. Who really has time to play more than one MMORPG though?
