A quickie Duct Tape modification
for DOOM 3 is now available. The mod addresses the absence of this essential
tool and provides the ability to attach your flashlight to your machine gun.
Im sure a lot of people will be happy with this.

I'm actually surprised it took a whole 4 days for someone to come out with this 
I personally like playing the game as intended, having to switch between light and weapon...but perhaps this will allow others to enjoy the game as well. - My thematic justification for 'not' having a flashlight taped to a weapon is simply that the hero doesn't have time to look for tape and attach a flashlight to each weapon he has once the action starts. Lame...perhaps..but it works for me!

How are these mods being done? Is the SDK released somewhere?
Anyone know where some friendly tutorials on the map editor are? I opened it, took one look at the interface, and closed it down. No, I am not a NooB. The thing looks like Max or some other needlessly complex and intimidating piece of software.
Nothing beats the Serious Sam editor for friendliness, simplicity and ease of use.

Yeah, I like the challenge also, makes it more strategic... do I put down the flashlight and hope for the best? ...or do I think I can switch to the shotty fast enough.... makes me approach a dark area much more cautiously instead of just run & gun. Cool MOD none-the-less.

Well when you see that the other marines wear a full face helmet that appears to have a HUD in it. Ya' gotta wonder how stupid the FNG really is.

lame, it was intentional to keep the flashlight and gun seperate, if I could see my enemy with a gun then what am I afraid of?

I've been playing with a flashlight to pistol mod for two days already 
It doesn't make the game harder, and it doesn't ruin any suspense. Being able to see in complete darkness with a narrow cone of light and actually being able to fire is a little more realistic in my opinion. Getting smoked in the pitch black because you had to put away your flashlight in favor of a gun was aggravating.
And, you can always not install it for those of you who seem to think it's lame.

Exactly. I couldn't figure out why I would need jump on the right mouse button...
So with this mod, can the light still be turned on and off? Can you use the light by itself?

The flashlight? How can this big tough Marine NOT carry a gun and a flashlight at the same time. How dumb.
As for it being so dark...also dumb.
If this game had been released by a less respected company than iD folks would be ripping it a new one.
Doesn't make sense to me to spend 4 years on a project than make it so dark it can't be seen.
I don't want to play it as intended I want to play it so I can see it. It's my $50.

People flying through on God-mode, modifying config settings to give more power to weapons or armor...
This game is easy as hell and I'm surprised so many people are having difficulty with it.
These little annoyances like having to switch between flashlight and weapon quickly adds to the difficulty and realism in my opinion (not to say duct tape isn't realistic).
My one and ONLY complaint of Doom 3 is that I wish they would have made it a little more difficult, along the lines of maybe Far Cry.
The difficulty in Far Cry brought additional tension to the game experience.
