Man... a midnight snack of Doritos was a really bad call... two Alka Seltzers and a Pepcid later and my heartburn has almost (*burp*) abated. Damn those tempting chips and their deadly powdery coating!

Anyone know how far you can extend a normal monitor cable before the image gets screwy? I have decided that rather than spend a fortune watercooling my PC, I am instead going to allow it to make as much noise as it wants but put it the other side of the room. The keyboard and mouse are wireless, I rarely change the CD (although getting up to do so is hardly a hardship ;)) but I read somewhere that monitor signals degrade over a distance.

Cheers guys

no, thats merely a typical western simplification

The law of cause and effect forms an integral part of Hindu philosophy. This law is termed as 'karma', which means to 'act'. In Sanskrit karma means "volitional action that is undertaken deliberately or knowingly". This also dovetails self-determination and a strong will power to abstain from inactivity. Karma is the differentia that characterizes human beings and distinguishes him from other creatures of the world.

The theory of karma harps on the Newtonian principle that every action produces an equal and opposite reaction. Every time we think or do something, we create a cause, which in time will bear its corresponding effects. And this cyclical cause and effect generates the concepts of samsara (or the world) and birth and reincarnation. It is the personality of a human being or the jivatman - with its positive and negative actions - that causes karma.

It's Karma.

Chappelle is making millions off of this guys legend. Isn't, or wasn't Rick James poor now?

Rick James died of embarrassment.

Think Chappelle will continue doing skits on a guy that just died? Making money off of ridiculing people is bad Karma.

RICK JAMES IS DEAD, BITCH!

Man...this coming days after Chapelle got that $50 million deal, including the right to do movie based on Rick James' life...

Hey nin - - can we assume by your tag line that your new video card still doesn't work?

Yep, I'm waiting for the EVGA guys to decide I need an RMA. It's getting removed from the case tonight, and the 4600 is going back in...

Man...gonna have to crank up Superfreak tonight, in honor of Rick.

I will think peaceful, happy thoughts about my new video card, in hopes that it will work.

Wow, you were right on top of that, it isn't even showing on Google News yet!

I couldn't be more happy with the new BFG 6800GT. It just works. Since I already had a BFG video card before this one, I didn't even reinstall drivers. I just swapped out the new for the old, and there have been absolutely no problems.

Man, listening to y'all I sure am glad I eat whatever I want without difficulty (except a few extra pounds I probably don't REALLY need...) My only problem is lactose intolerance, but Lactaid pills do the trick just fine. I just can't eat cheesecake anymore, no matter the # of pills. Wierd.

Actually, my wife is the same way about acid - we drink low acid OJ and she can't eat high fat foods. Or a lot of beef. Or pepper. Or onions. Or MSG. She's a mess.

Cheetos are the BOMB! I pity the fool who can't eat 'em! Then again, a nice dish of Hunan or General Chicken with steamed rice is right up there, as well as pep. pizza...

Aspartame may be safe but it sure as hell gives me 'I want to commit suicide to escape the pain' migraines.

Yeah, there is a small, but significant, percentage of the population who do not react well to aspartame. My coworker can't take it either -- it doesn't taste sweet to him (I believe he referred to it as "chewing on aluminum foil") and it gives him migraines (which he doesn't really need help with; he has epilepsy and is on anti-seizure and anti-migraine meds as is).

Honestly, I'm amazed someone didn't try and bring up sacchrine (Equal), aspartame (Nutrasweet), or sucralose (Splenda). And yeah, they're safe too unless you decide to eat a few thousand times a normal dosage in a day (hint - there's not a helluva lot else that's safe at that point either).

You expect him to manage reading and remembering which weapon he last used?

Gotta love paying for portion control.

However, the 100 calorie packs are significantly less calories than their original version.

Those new “nacho” and “cooler ranch” ~half calorie and carb Doritos are not all that bad actually.

May have to look for those (the nacho at least... not a fan of ranch. I know, heresy and all that). We've discovered that the 100-calorie packs of stuff from Nabisco are tasty too... expensive for the quantity, but it's cheaper than a heart attack down the road.

PS - Thanks again for the email.

Can you say Olestra?

Proof of long term health effects? Anyone? Anyone?

"may cause involuntary anal leakage" = poison, IMO**

My, what an interesting usage of the word poison.

Do you know what Olestra is? Do you know how it works? Do you know why some people get diarrhea after eating it?

Olestra is an artificial fat. Tastes just like the real thing, because it is the real thing -- at least to your tastebuds and nose. The difference is that it's a fat's kind of fat. It's huge, biologically and chemically speaking. In fact, it's so big that our bodies cannot process it -- it cannot be absorbed by the intestines into the blood stream. Instead it passes on through the entire digestive tract.

Of course, that's the problem and why people have "anal leakage" (I'm amazed they didn't come up with a better term, because I sure as hell don't want to risk that!). The colon really isn't designed to deal with pure fat. And if you've ever tried to pick something up after having fat on your fingertips you know what happens -- things are slippery. Well, it's now in your colon along with other wastes, so there's a chance it's just going to "slip" right out... and yes, ewwwww.

I'm not a big fan of Olestra myself. I've had some chips made with it, and no issues here, but it is a side effect that I don't want to particularly risk. But that doesn't make it poison.

I also have a sore belly today, but it's because the Doc removed a mole from my abdomen with a scalpel at 8 o'clock this morning.

I'm going to go home and drink wine as an analgesic.
