I don't know, but of all the screens and movies I've seen, I don't think there's enough blood, gore, and violence

John Bird of Mediawatch, which tries to curb sex and violence in the entertainment industry, said: "Everyone is tired of killing at the moment. I wish people who develop these games would do something more positive. The Manhunt incident proves classification is not working. These games are circulating in school playgrounds."

What utter propoganda.

Please answer the following:

1. Why is the game so bad?

2. What was all that money and time spent on?

3. How much (ridiculous) money was spent on advertising?

4. Or just on buying reviews?

5. Why is so much bet on just one title?

The game still sold well, selling well over a million units, and that is still a tragic thing unto itself. If money was not so blatantly blown elsewhere, it could have helped quite a bit. Likewise, Enter the Matrix was a profound illusion; how many times can you expect to pull off the same trick, especially to the same level?

Bah!

Wanting....Doom 3......must.....have.....Doom 3......,

The first game in the series, Doom, was partly blamed for the Columbine High School massacre in the United States, it having been a favourite computer game of the teenage killers Dylan Klebold and Eric Harris.

Wasn't Doom a little before their time? Hell I played Doom, Doom2, Quake, shit I can't count the number of violent video games I've played in my life and I started with Wolf3D. You don't see me going on killing sprees. Those kids were alread fucked up in the head, video games didn't do it.

FFS is the kids had pipe bombs and automatic weapons in their basement, and the fucking parents didn't know. Fucking parents are to blame, spend a little more time with your kids.

Edited to say: I even played Doom in highschool computer class. We used to have deathmatches after we'd finished our assignments.

...and to indicate that the game's quality can have very little to do with anything, we have this quote:
``'Driver 3' would have had to be as good or better than 'Enter the Matrix' to regain investor confidence,'' said Jean-Michel Salvador, analyst at French investment bank Fideuram Wargny.

Although I've not played either game, I saw more than enough reviews of ETM to assure me that it was rubbish. Surely the chances of Driv3r being a worse game than ETM are incredibly slim.

And despite the vast amounts of money spent on marketing Driv3r, it sounds as if they thought it could compete with the marketing provided by the Matrix films, which is crazy (regardless of how bad the Matrix sequels were).

Like you said... why would a publisher bet everything on a single title?!? It makes no sense. Developers often have to do that, but I thought the whole point of being a publisher is that you have your eggs in many baskets.

Is there anyone out there who didn't return or ditch the game after trying the first mission ? From everyone that I've heard from, the out-of-car controls are almost entirely unusable and the added in-car controls make it nearly impossible to use them while doing much of anything else. This combined with the inability to customize controls(only heard from PS2 players, will XBOX let people do this?) made this game hopeless.

The glitchy AI, gun focused quick chases and many other factors didn't help. Atari screws everything up yet again.

The stupid thing I'll never get is why everyone assumes it's the violent game that makes someone violent, rather than the other way around..... that is to say, someone who already has a predisposition to violence would clearly enjoy playing violent video games. If there really was a situation of violent games turning normal people into killers or maniacs, wouldn't we see a lot more computer gamers go on rampages? Sort of the same thing with the porn argument (i.e. it's not that porn turns people into sexual deviants..... but someone who is already a sexual deviant will obviously like a lot of porn).

When did they release it? Must have missed that day's news. I was actually hoping this one would be good, the idea behind the game is good. I haven't seen any reviews yet.

The most violent movie in history has been released across the nation, titled "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre."
Sporting all sorts of weaponry, mutiliations, outright torture and scenes of grisly suffering, this Hollywood blockbuster has made millions and continues to sell off shelves at a medium pace.
It was at one point blamed for loss of sleep in some viewers, for it's sheer lack of straight forward entertainment, seeking profit margins through SHOCK rather than story.
Released long before Doom ever graced the planet, and (loosely) based on a true story that occured long before Doom ever graced the planet.

Fuck anybody who says different.

And as far as the title 'most violent game'
S'funny, I thought Postal 2 was worse than Doom could ever hope to be... and Postal 2 was straight fun.

Also, what about Resident Evil, Grand Theft Auto, The Suffering, Manhunt, Painkiller, etc...

The media really needs some new material.
What's next? Cher's 'farewell' concert?
