Out of the Blue

Well tonight sees something that literally only comes along once in a blue moon... that being a blue moon. Being Blue myself means I'll have to check the regulations to see if I actually have to moon anyone as a result. If I do, at least it will be among family, as we will venture to points north today to visit WalterEgo and clan, as it is my little niece's second birthday today (or rather a couple of days hence, but today's the party). We're looking forward to seeing the clan and how the little tyke has grown, and of course that blue moon.

Choosing..."Silly! Money" Enahs as my teammate

When and how did I get the second nick name “Silly! Money”?
I thought if anything on here it would be:
[Enahs “Who had his left nut sold by Halsy” Enahs]

Though, I will happy to be on your team, as I know I rock, rock on in FPS (I am top 10 team CPL class level baby!).

I guess why even bother with a tournament? I know we will win, it would be impossible for us to lose. You all have already lost to Ray and me, might as well start praising our awesome skills now, get it over with.

"Broken Finger" Matthew

Actually, that should be "Ruptured Tendon" Matthew.

It wasn't so bad as a break. Of course, I know my finger is not ready for DOOM 3.

It's bending back just from playing the WOW beta.

Heh, I didn't even think of that. You're probably right. I guess that's one bonus he gets for putting up with all of us

I prolly won't even get the game for at least a week. I wanna join the cult and purchase a plain 6800, but I would like to see HL2 benchmarks first

Too bad MP is only 4-player. It leaves me wondering where "Cannon Fodder" Bunko fits into the whole equation

I swear, if he is playing Doom 3...

Then it will be "Pikachu" me against "Broken Finger" Matthew and "Gordon Freeman" Stephen.

Rather, had and did look nice.
Someone stole all our damn potted plants sometime since late last night.
I mean, stealing potted plants? WHAT THE FUCK!

I've said it before and i'll say it again, I can't wait for the day to come when one can just buy the game online and download it and not have to deal with the middleman like stores and fedex and all that stuff. You'd think that with broadband and everything it could be done already.

I like the idea as well but the experiences I had with DL content has been far from satisfying. I just bought Planetside through Fileplanet as they had a 1 year anniversary special for $10. The download was 1.6 gigs and it took me 5 tries before i got the full copy without any corruption. Further, the install file was some proprietary format where I couldn't extract the parts and burn it to disc so unless i go buy a DVD burner I'm stuck if I have to uninstall the game and want to reinstall it again. Other downloadable game services like Yahoo's stream parts of the game as you play thus leaving you without a full copy you can burn and keep. I have no idea how Steam will work in this respect.

until the purveyors of downloadable content realize that people want to have a physical copy of something they legally purchased, the downloadable market will remain small.

Then again, you are probably joking.

no I'm not I really am considering getting a large format LCD screen at some point in the (very) distant future. Native res on the Sony I lust after is 1024x768. I've seen games on the larger LCD screens and it looks excellent to me.

WON"T YOU PLEASE HELP!!????

Considering the fact that I cannot claim this charitable donation on my taxes, and that I'm a cold-hearted bastard with a black soul, you're out of luck, my friend.

Maybe if you worked on your sales pitch. You'd need to add Sally Struthers with her whiny, pleading voice, and some emaciated kids dressed in rags holding Doom3 boxes...

Thinking I may purchase a copy at BB if it has it Tuesday at 10:00

No dice in my area.

I have to say, the only reason I'd buy it now is to be able to read all the secret text that is going to fly around here.

Otherwise I'd be so hooked into WOW...

Thinking more and more that I will have to purchase this one.

I just started using the 'mass transit' system. Really cool to fly from point to point via the griffons.

While it would be neat, it could easily suck.

Games are getting pretty big. Heck, "Unreal Tournament 2004" was several CD's.

Yes, I have broadband. It's a standard DSL connection. My normal max sustainable speed is 90k/s. It would take forever to download UT2004 at those speeds, and that's just 1 game. Cable's available in my neighborhood, but my neighbors are having major problems with it. Even still, it's not that fast to keep downloading multi-gig downloads.

Online deliverable content would be nice, but I think faster broadband would need to be more widely available. It would be great for smaller games, but DVD-sized games would suck.

On top of that, I would want to be able to download the install files and archive them onto CD. I don't mind activation or whatever, but I often rebuild or reformat my rig, and I wouldn't want to keep downloading all my games.

I was hoping to own a nice Sony 32" LCD panel monitor by now for when Doom3/HL2 got released.

Dear god, please tell me you're joking.

When LCD's "stretch" the image to the full screen, they look like total crap; especially if the difference in resolution is great.

My 17" LCD has a native resolution of 1280x1024.

800x600 - horrible: DOOM 1 and DOOM 2 blockiness
1024x768 - not bad, but not great. Spoils a new game with lots of eyecandy.
1152x864 - pretty good. Blurriness is barely noticable.

I'm assuming an incredibly large LCD has an incredibly large native resolution. Trying to play any game on that would look horrible. And DOOM 3 will be all about the look.

Then again, you are probably joking.

Meanwhile, if we did have online delivery, we could have all been playing the game a few days back.
