all this bitching about win98 and i'm genuinly shocked no-ones yet mentioned the 49 day practically hard coded uptime limit

(did they jsut ignore bug as 2k/xp were out or is there actually patch now?, not that anyone actually doing aNYTHING on 98 would be able to keep it running that long anyway)
and DLL HELL!
no really, having to reinstall your OS very 3-6 months to stop it CRAWLING is absolutely ideal for home users knowing sfa about computing.
2k/xp is truly the way to go for all MS users, get over it.
I've worked as a comp/net tech since win3.1, having to deal with 98 or even worse, ME, just makes your stomach crawl when your out on a job, a significan't number just can't be dealt with in the end whatever without a reinstall, and they are almost ALWAYS problems that simply just don't happen at ALL on 2k/xp. hell, just trying to trace the problem in the first place, or recover files, on 98 more often than not crashes the machine so you have to start all over again.
and that ntfs v's fat32 debate, you saw the comparison page and surmised that the home user wouldn't care for ntfs? so you missed the recoverability rating then? dealing with disk problems, SO much better with ntfs..your MUCH more likely to get your data back.
