DON'T do that. If you ever need to re-install, or if you change enough hardware in that first system, it will need to re-activate. At this point you'll be screwed, MS won't re-activate it, as you've told them you took your copy of XP off this machine.
Sorry but you are wrong. This is exactly what I was refering to. You can call them and they WILL re-activate it, I have done it, everyone that I know that has WinXP and rebuilds computers on a regular basis has done it. Microsoft cannot force you to buy another WinXP license just because you changed hardware or are reinstalling WinXP. However they are banking on people that don't bother to call, to do just this and go buy another WinXP.This comment was edited on Jul 28, 03:00.
