Rictor is obviously Amish. (Though I think posting on a gaming forum is like blasphemy to them... or something...)
Amish people don't use wireless devices. Amish people don't use PCIe or Serial ATA or DDR2.http://www.xbitlabs.com/news/chipsets/display/20040430055232.htmlThe Inquirer cites Intel as saying that there will be no drivers of i915P/i915G, i925X and derivative chipsets for Microsoft Windows 98 and Microsoft Windows ME operating systems. While the reasons for the move are not reported, it is pretty clear that relatively old operating systems may not function well enough with PCI Express-based core-logic components. Furthermore, Microsoft no longer accepts certification submissions for the Windows ME operating system and ceased support for the Windows 98 about 2 years ago.
Okay, the bit about Microsoft dropping support isn't quite right, but the point is, you don't have a Ford Model A on your desktop that you can keep alive forever with aftermarket parts. It's a computer. It becomes obsolete. That's what computers do very well.
Yeah, I don't like the fact that Microsoft crammed a CD burner and movie maker into the OS and tied Internet Explorer into every nook and cranny. But all the other bullshit that runs in the background? Just shut it off!http://www.majorgeeks.com/downloads27.htmlhttp://www.litepc.com/http://www.pcstats.com/articleview.cfm?articleID=1590
Tweak your OS or don't - the choice is yours. But to say that XP is less customizable or more restrictive is just plain ignorant IMHO.
Maybe Amish people like Active Desktop?http://toastytech.com/guis/win982.html
But the real question is, will Doom3 run on MICROSOFT BOB
