In today's (unusually late) DOOM 3 newsbit, a post on
PlanetDOOM confirms from
Activision that DOOM 3 will not run under Windows 98 or Win98SE, but that
Windows XP or Windows 2000 will be required.
WinXP is godly. Never crashes for me, doesn't start losing 15 minutes every hour if I leave it on over 24 hours... simply an ideal OS. Blows all competition, including Linux, out of the water for general use.

And true gamers do not dual boot 98. True gamers have a 486 DX/2 or a Pentium 90 laying around to play the classics.
I agree 110%. I never once had a problem with XP Pro. I can leave this bitch on for a week straight and still start up a game without a hitch.
And as for "true gamers". Everyone knows you can have an emulator downloaded in minutes, and play EVERY GAME ever created practically in just seconds. /me loves MAME32
