Nokia is a Finnish company, not Japanese.

I read an article awhile back that recounted one journalists attempt to get the cell-phone activated for his N-Gage. To make a long story short, it turned out to be a nightmare of one company passing the buck to another.

I find it hard to beleive a Japanese company of such standing as Nokia fumbled a product launch so badly as the original N-Gage.

Lynx was way underrated. It was by far the most powerful handheld at its time and even a few years later still.

So very true. I loved my Lynx. For its time, the 3D graphics were extremely cool. I spent hundreds of hours on Chip's Challenge. And I bought a second Lynx so my friends and I could play California Games together. It was a blast. Too bad it didn't take off.

The NGage is underrated... it can do a lot more than just games, there are hundreds of free applications for series 60 phones.

Its going the same way as the Lynx, but the Lynx was way underrated. It was by far the most powerful handheld at its time and even a few years later still.
I dont think this one is underrated.

I have given up on waiting for BIS to come back to their senses and do a real ArmA 2 successor.

Umm if this is a Series 60 phone like the predecessor, you can download Doom for it. Also theres a Gameboy emulator too... infact theres tons of symbian programs for series 60 phones.

349 where ebob9 ? The N-Gage QD is about 130gbp in the UK without a contract. Makes a refreshing change to see another country getting shafted on hardware pricing for a change

Whilst the range of ngage official games is a bit pants at the moment you can use it for running lots of other java games that are out there (of which doom is pretty cool conversion)

Too bad really that they still apply cell-phone logic to this.

This 'toy' is around 349.99 if you don't buy a cell-phone contract with it. If they wanted to get market penetration, which is important for gaming, they should just sell it at 99.99, reguardless. Then people would possibly buy one just for the games.

Also, because its GSM, any person who bought one just for the games, could in the future put an existing GSM SIM card in and get cell phone functionality.

All this shows is that they don't believe the strength of their product is the games, its the cell-phone, with the games as a 'gimmick' to get you to buy it.

Even with revisions this thing is an instant door stop. Who was the brilliant jackass that thought a vertical screen would be good for gaming? This thing is going the way of the Atari Lynx, but even the Lynx had better design than this thing (and more/better games)

If they were serious, this is what they should have released in the first place.

Yes, but does it run...

DOOM 3?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

I think not...

edit: You want a good phone? Check out Moto's MPX200. I see Wolf3d and Doom have already been ported to it. Have had mine for a month and love it...holds up to a 1 gig SD card, and there's software that'll allow you to port a dvd length movie to 128 meg, playable on the phone.

See you in Hell! http://www.doom3.com/

If it had a good library of games, I'd seriously consider buying it.
