I mean, fuck this! I bought a 9800 pro in the early spring (just before the latest gfx cards were paper launched). And now I'm not just told that I won't be able to run games at their highest detail settings, but actually at just normal settings! WTF?
So, let me get this straight, you're upset that a developer has decided to push your brand new video card to its limit?
Honestly, id has never released an engine that wasn't ahead of its time both graphically and performance wise. The Q3A test ran on a p166 with a voodoo 2 at over 30 fps! The HL engine, in its initial state, could not even run at that level.
Personally, I'm glad that a game has come out that will challenge the radeon 9800 pro (and I have one, too) rather than just run maxed out and not show me everything I
could be seeing.
At any rate, if you really feel this strongly about your card being used to its full potential, then you really don't need to bother buying the game. You can just keep playing Farcry and GTA 3
I eat pasta!
