I hate to say it but Everquest's better days are behind it. The best expansion was Shadows of Luclin but once Planes of Power came out, that expansion pretty much started to kill everquest and the way it was designed. Once POP redesigned the EXP system and put out all that uber loot nobody felt the need to go to any of the other expansions and it made the game way too easy thus content go old very quickly not just for the hard-core player but for the average players too. Now SOE has to release a new expansion every 6 months just to keep people happy. Most of the expnaions arn't very good and they don't really add anything new just the same stuff with new graphics.

Well, there are still enough zombies playing this game. Did you take a look at it lately? more and more bugs each patch, and it takes them months to fix them, if they fix them at all.
And if you say anthing critic about eq in the official forums you will get bashed to death my the mindless fanyboy zombies.

I have given up on waiting for BIS to come back to their senses and do a real ArmA 2 successor.

I'm trying out the 30 day free trial and so far have lasted 5/14 days. I might fire it up again. To me it seems like all the others; another level treadmill. Same mechanics as DAoC and SWG (or vice versa), at least AC was somewhat different. Very low poly, but that's okay, it depends on the content (of which I obviously have not devoted much time to ;)). I had fun checking out the races and classes, but killing critters got old fast.

Right now it simply can't compete with Joint Ops, IL-2, RRT3, and Master of Magic

I'll likely check out EQ2 and WoW, but I expect something new and different, or no sale here.

Which game has now released more expansion packs and "bundles" / platinum editions? Everquest or the Sims?

I lie awake at night thinking about this...

Sony will milk the EQ teat until that thing is a mile long, dried up husk. And who can blame them, really? It's a cash cow... get it... teat... cow... uhg...
