Far Cry Unpatched

The recently released version 1.2 patch for Far Cry can be reclassified back to eagerly anticipated, as 3D Gamers has news that the update has been "recalled" by Ubisoft, apparently due to "unexpected behaviour on specific hardware configurations." No word on when a patched version of the patch will become available.

Yeah .. that "Hardware" being ANYTHING ATI !!!!
How can you possibly test a patch without realizing it wont run on ATI GPU's ?

Ohhhhh well.
What do they care ... they just partnered with EA so they gots BANK !!! and can afford to kick users to the curb.

Ubisoft has the worst support ever in game history. I know they don't make the patches themselves, but they will release anything.

As for the patch for FarCry. It was fine on ATI cards up to the 9800xt. Its seems that its the news cards (X800 series) that was having the problems)

And this from the patch that recieved (more or as much as)hype (and failed deadlines) as most full games, like pop sot.

however this patch let me crank my b**ch up to 1280*1024 (4aa 1af:))
on my 9800xt.
for once this was nearly the patch that made the game fun.
this fiasco that is ubi (the o so familier copy protection dealie with XIII) chalking one more up for ubisoft.

My problem was different and NOT hardware related. Ubisoft are lying. This patch invalidated Save Games (aka Checkpoints) for many users.

Weak.

Well, I've had no problems with the 1.2 patch yet (using an ATI Radeon 9800XT 256MB). That said, I've only been replaying some of the single player levels...haven't touched multiplayer so I don't know if that's fucked up or not.

Actually, this the 1.2 patch did indeed make the game more fun. I bought Far Cry the day it was released, and finished it in 2-3 weeks. It was ok and all, but the fps was low in lots of places.

gf5950U
3.4 Ghz p4
1ghz DDR pc3400

So when the new nvidia drivers and the 1.2 patch got released I reinstalled Far Cry and DAMN the game runs smooth now. Great fps and alot less buggy for me. Getting my gf6800 soon so I cant wait for even more fps's

Wow. The magnitude of this blunder indicates some s-e-r-i-o-u-s organizational problems in one or both of these companies.

This isn't a simple oversight, or letting some "B" bugs slip thru, it means the patch was never Formally QA Tested. Which means:

No One -anywhere- in the development chain of command - from Grunt Coder I, to Project Lead, to Senior Producer, to Director of Programming...

No One ever raised the question "was the patch tested?"
???
unfckingbelievable

good question - but isnt the point of doom 3 liberation as well? perhaps one must descend to the depths of hell to see the heights of heaven ...

Nasrudin and his wife were in the house eating their supper. They heard a noise in their compound. Nasrudin took his gun and rushed outside. He saw something white moving near his garden. He raised his gun and shot. When he went close to see what he had shot, he discovered that his wife had washed his best shirt and had hung it on a tree to dry. Just then she came running from the house. "Oh, you unlucky man!" she cried. "You have ruined your best shirt." "No," said Nasrudin. "I am the luckiest man on earth. I almost put that shirt on this morning. If I had been wearing the shirt, then surely I would have been killed."
