See the problem there is (and I don't mean to pick on you, as you're not the only one who likes checkpoint saves), if you don't like saves, don't use them. But it's not fair to take that function away from the rest of us.

Just because some people (and again, NOT you in particular) don't have the self control NOT to use the save function, doesn't mean it should be removed.

With respects to saving: the fact that you can't save everywhere should be considered a design decision, and not a bad one. I was able to cheat around it using the console once or twice throughout the game, though, when I just couldn't take the stress anymore and when I had died a thousand times before. Other than that, I appreciated not being able to quicksave every other second which I inevitably would have done if I could have easily.
I really think commonly placed auto-saves are the way to go for FPS games.

(I apologise, I'm sure you guys have had this discussion numerous times before-- I don't usually read FarCry threads. :P)

It really is unfortunate that this patch is so buggy. With the problems aside, the game does run a hell of a lot smoother with the indoor sections. 1152x864x32 with everything set to Highest, except for water set to high, 2xAA, 2xAF and the frame rates are now solid in areas that once dropped to like 15fps.

Ive got a 2.4 P4 with 1 GB RAM and a brand spankin new Visiontek X800 XT PLatinum. It runs like butter on mine so far except for one small glitch where some shadowing and the occasional vehicle are rendered as solid yellow. But, this was there prior to the patch so..Now if I could just find that save game patch..

I waited a little over a month to see how the 1.2 patch affected the game. During that wait Far Cry was merely wasting space. And it takes too god damn long to install.

Also, if Doom 3 doesn't suck ass I'll get it. I'm beginning to pick up an Unreal 2 vibe, though.

Got same wave thingie going on ocasianly, what seems to happen is that the game puts your water quality into "custom", just try switching back to your original setting, (works for me.)

Weird... my game (with 1.2) still has waves on the beach. You might either want to check your graphics settings and/or drivers. I have a 6800Gt using 61.76 forceware, just in case you're interested.

I bought FryCry and patched it to 1.2...the freaking thing reboots my machine all the time and I just patched it to 1.2 and was going to try to play it again...I can play Painkill with no problems at all...

I thought this patch was supposed to have save anywhere? Stop working on your damn console port and fix your game, Crytek.

Wow. The magnitude of this blunder indicates some s-e-r-i-o-u-s organizational problems in one or both of these companies.

This isn't a simple oversight, or letting some "B" bugs slip thru, it means the patch was never Formally QA Tested. Which means:

No One -anywhere- in the development chain of command - from Grunt Coder I, to Project Lead, to Senior Producer, to Director of Programming...

No One ever raised the question "was the patch tested?"

You cannot make anything fool-proof. The fools are too inventive
