Out of the Blue

It was not that long ago that I still didn't have a driver license, but that's hard to believe as I learn to live without a car for the moment. The BlueTruck went into the shop yesterday for new shock absorbers and to finally fix the damage caused when it got clipped when the cap of our chimney blew off, so it will be out of commission for the next couple of days. I do actually have an option, as my buddy MrCoffee has his Mazda RX-7 residing in my driveway, but I am ashamed to admit that my skills at operating a manual transmission are woeful (Steve McQueen just rolled over in his grave). I may work up the nerve to give this a try, so if you are somewhere north of New York City today and hear a horrible grinding noise, you'll know I'm on the road.

From what I understand the newer rotary engines don't have that issue. In the older ones the rotor tips wore badly, allowing oil into the combustion cycle, new tip materials and designs overcame that problem.
