RtCW Sequel!

Another G4/Tech TV DOOM 3-related video is now available on Doom3Maps.de (thanks PlanetWolfenstein and Frans), this time offering a Q&A with id CEO Todd Hollenshead. During their conversation, Todd confirms the already stated plan for id's next internal project to be an entirely new intellectual property, and drops the news along the way that some unnamed third party is currently at work on an as-yet not officially announced sequel to Return to Castle Wolfenstein, the World War II shooter originally built on Quake III technology.

FWIW, my archeology flatmate at uni played through my RTCW SP, and commented on how some of it was (very loosely, of course) based on fact. There was definately Nazi archeology going on related to the occult. Of course, none of it was realised, as it was in the game, unless you want to don the tinfoil hat anyway. But the game is not meant and was never claimed to be historically accurate, so its a moot, if interesting point.

Anyway, gaming messaging boards arent exactly somewhere to go for history lessons, tbh

MHO was RTCW singleplayer was good fun, but not a GREAT game, and I'd have preffered it without zombies etc, only a few of which were good to play against. Singleplayer alone is well worth the budget price it's available at now though.

RTCW really became a fantastic game with multiplayer, the best multiplayer game I've ever played by far, and ET is the only other game in the genre that works (unless you count fortress types).

ET is very similar to RTCW in lots of ways, particularily on paper, but in practice the game is quite different, RTCW is comparatively tactical and arcade, ET is more strategic and has an RPG element (i.e., bigger maps with more stages and "experence" levelling up bonuses). Not liking one of the two games definately doesnt mean not liking the other, unless it's the fundamental gameplay of class-based teamplay and objectives you dont like.
