Rake) polls interest in him acquiring the rights to Freespace 3, making the
following statements in a pair of posts:

Discuss. Rave. Rant. Argue. But this is something I am seriously considering, given that it looks like Interplay has started off loading properties (starting with Fallout3). I mean, just think. Would you rather see this legacy license fall into the wrong hands?

Jesus Christ, will Derek Smart ever learn? What the hell is wrong with him? I have never purchased or even played a game created by Mr. Smart (or is that Dr. Smart? 
), but I can't understand how anyone would buy a product made by this guy when he presents himself so poorly in public. Derek Smart has made himself a lightning rod for criticism, but he asks for it with the vitriol he spews on his critics. Can you imagine the producer of any other product so blatantly insulting his potential customers? I really enjoy arcade-style space sims like the Wing Commander series, the X-Wing series, and the Freespacee series, but I won't purchase Freespace 3 unless it is made by someone more competent and respectable than Derek Smart.
