PC Riddick Planned

Following up on some recent speculation, Best-selling Butcher Bay PC-bound on GameSpot (thanks Zombi Z) has word that a PC edition of the console movie tie-in game is in the works, though they may not necessarily be striking while the iron is hot: "We can confirm that there will be a PC version of Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay. At this time we are not revealing any further details, including its release date. We'll have more information soon."

Cool, I've been having a little fun with this game on the Xbox. Would be nice to see the graphics without all the jaggies, and at a higher resolution.

He cut the possum's face off then cut around the eye socket. In the center of the belt buckle, where the possum's eye would be, he has placed a small piece of wood from his old '52 Ford's home made railroad tie bumper. Damn, he misses that truck.

Thats awesome, CoR had the single player experience ever in a FPS IMHO. I hope they had some multiplayer and graphical touch ups although the game looked great already.

The Penny Arcade guys were raving about it...is it a side scroller, FPS, or what?

Allright!! No one hates xbox more then me, but when my friend brought his over and showed me CoR, I was blown away. A really good xbox game for once! Good gfx, good story, good acting, good music/sound. I read that it was supposed to be a xbox-only on some sites but guess they changed it. This is great news, CoR can be an even better game on the PC.

The only thing i didnt like about the game, was that it was on the XBOX. Game=great, console controls+FPS=teh suck. Cant wait for some real controls when it comes to the PC!

Bleh... I have no faith in this.
I have an Xbox, and this game looks kinda ok but it's a freakin FPS on a freakin console on a freakin TV. There's NO WAY for this game not to suck right now. So, on a PC, yeah it would be ok... but you know they're gonna blow it. If a game COMES from a console right now it is inevitably gonna suck on PC... Remember halo.

What exactly was wrong with the single-player game in Halo for the PC? All the complaints on the PC Halo I have heard have been related to the multiplayer.

I just of something that concerned about this game. It has lots of stealth so you cant be running all the time. That was the good thing about the XBOX controllers since you can control you speed easily whereas on a keyboard you cant.

I watched this get played on the XBox and even after playing it for hours, it looked like 90% of the time the guy was fighting against the controls instead of the game. Because FPSes just weren't meant for consoles. Its clunky and unwieldy and doesn't have the analog nature of the mouse. They did a great job trying to make it easier, but there was still the 'almost all my deaths are because of the freaking controller' issue.

PErhaps on PC people can play the game properly. Although textures are going to be ugly and lowrez unless they rework some of them (TV screen is kinda low rez so they can get away with it)

It's amazing how you guys insist that the game will suck, without even GLANCING at the developer's name and what they've done.

Apparently not a single one of you idiots remembers Enclave. The Xbox version was bombed for horrible control, making its fantastic visuals rather pointless. A few months later, they released a PC version, with perfect controls. Enclave is fun stuff...quite linear, but definitely not poorly done.
Riddick has far, FAR higher production values, and good controls FOR WHAT IT'S ON. I wouldn't be surprised if the PC version is absolutely stunning.

Oh, and as for the game having low-res textures...you very obviously never looked at Enclave or the PC port of Halo. Both of them have high-detail textures.

The day one of you retards actually does some research instead of making up your own reasons ("because they can get away with lower-res textures on a tv"), you might actually be believable. I CONSTANTLY see people complain about Nintendo/Xbox/PS2 fanboys, but they never seem to realize that they're PC fanboys. Your system of choice is not neccessarily the best at doing everything.

Anyway, rant over, I'm interested to see how this one turns out...and if it runs smoothly.

just re-read Vek's post, then mine. the textures in Halo and Enclave are the ORIGINAL textures from their Xbox versions. Some developers do more than the bare minimum, and Starbreeze is one of them.

HoSpanky..

I agree 100%. These retards are too dim to understand the concept that the textures ARE NOT displaying at the full potential when you see them on the Xbox. Odds are they planned from day 1 to have a PC port of this game too, so I'm sure they took texture detail into account while designing it.

It's really sad how most people these days are completely unable to think past the surface of an issue.

Hey, Enclave! Thanks for reminding me of that great game. ( well of course it is, it's from sweden, and we swedes rock... )
Gonna install it right now, not much story, but great gfx and action.

Hoping CoR will be the same high quality port.

PS. Tried to play Severence: Blade of Darkness, but it's pretty old and doesnt seem to play well on the newest hardware. Controls dont respond and lots of CTD's, and no patches...

I even tried Die by the Sword. Works great and still fun, especially on a lan.

Riddick is the 2nd best game on the xbox... 2nd only to Halo. The normal mapped graphics are amazing... I doubt Doom3 will look any better. My only gripe is that it's too short at 12+ hours. Still, I can't complain... After beating it, I got $35 trade-in at EB

Oh, I think starbreeze are awsome. After all, they have some Future Crew power behind them - that counts for a lot. I'm sure they won't mess up visually. I was just saying that devs that do a straight port from console to PC are selling it short. Need to go the extra mile to use the full potential.

My main point was that FPSes are somewhat worse on console than PC, mainly because there still hasn't been a good analog-twitch controller solution that works quite as well as a mouse...

Severance - blade of Darkness should run fine.. i tried it not long ago with the 1 patch thats out for it.. still ran fine controlls wern't too bad.

Enclave was a great game, fairly mindless but good fun, pc port was fantastic.

Whats wrong with halo? apart from the fact that 5+ years ago it was meant to run flawlessly on a gf2gts? and now it crawls on dx9 cards nah not much wrong there.. oh wait yeah gearbox cant port for shit

OOO this is good news, this was fun on xbox. I didn't mind the controls, either, because there isn't a lot of long-range fire fighting. Xbox controls are fine for this style of shooter.
