PC Riddick Planned

Following up on some recent speculation, Best-selling Butcher Bay PC-bound on GameSpot (thanks Zombi Z) has word that a PC edition of the console movie tie-in game is in the works, though they may not necessarily be striking while the iron is hot: "We can confirm that there will be a PC version of Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay. At this time we are not revealing any further details, including its release date. We'll have more information soon."

Actually, there is a HUGE problem with specular slowing down the framerate on alot of pc's (mine included). If you look on the tech forums for HALO a fair amount of people gripe about this. Oh well. Good to hear this is coming to the pc and that people like it so much, saves me from shelling out 150+ for a used box :P.

Then I'll rape his wife and sell his daughter's internal organs on the black market for cold, hard cash, baby. Fuck yeah!

HoSpanky: Sorry, but what better research than playing Halo obsessively on the PC for a couple of months? I love the game but it was definitely below average in terms of graphic quality and smoothness, and it should have been triple-a quality.

nightfend: Halo simply should have been faster on the PC. It barely keeps up with the Xbox version in terms of framerate. It feels choppy. Don't get me wrong, I think it's a truly brilliant game, but the actual porting was terrible. Textures could have been sharper as well. And yes, as you mentioned, net performance can only be classified as abysmal.

Have heard good things about this game on the Xbox. Just wanted to mention if you haven't seen it, Ninja Gaiden for the xbox is pretty sweet in my opinion.
Just saw the CoR movie today: three words...

death by teacup...

loved that scene heh...

It is so nice hearing these games I want to play keep coming to the PC. Fortunately I haven't needed to purchase a PS2 since GTA comes to the PC. HALO came to the PC so I haven't needed to get an XBOX. The XBOX has been on my list for Destroy All Humans, HALO 2 and Riddick. 1 down. If HALO 2 somehow manages to make its way to the PC, I may just pass on Destroy All Humans. My lovely Gamecube remains for Metriod, Zelda, Star Fox, Prince of Persia and Starcraft: Ghost.

Edit: brainfart.

let's see... a game based on a movie

and a console port.

yeah, this can't lose

Production on the game started years ago, back when the movie was gaining steam. Even in the game you can unlock a video from *very* early development; the visuals look like Quake 2-era.

I have been hearing a number of good things about this game - enough so to make me even consider dusting off my Xbox. Now that it is coming ot the PC, I can avoid that travesty :o. In all seriousness, I hope that the game is as good as people say and that we will be playing it come November.

Thinking the movie was just ok; thinking the story and characters were lacking,

Let me begin by saying I far prefer the PC for gaming rather that a console, BUT, i just finished riddick and I'm not ashamed to say it was the most fun i can remember having with a game. Graphics are incredible, diesel looks SO real that it's completely convincing. The AI is top notch and you fight more than just human opponents. The story line of escaping from the prison is every bit as engaging as escaping from black mesa in half life. I highly recommend the game to anyone with an xbox and CAN'T WAIT for the PC release.

Great choice for the developers to bring this to PC! I am very happy to see this game the way it should be! If multiplayer is added it will hopefully give the game a nice long life on the PC. This game could definately hang with the rest of the next gen games as far as graphics go. I own it already on the Xbox but won't think twice about getting it again for the PC if they add some decent Xtras!

It's a good game, one of the better ones on the Xbox, but it does have some control issues, and it IS rather short. I finished it pretty quickly (after renting it, glad I didn't spend 50 bucks on it).

The PC version better get a ton more levels though, to catch my interest.

Pretty sad that the movie didn't really do all that well, but considering the fact that it was released on very FEW screens, and it still did better than stuff released on more screens (Stepford Wives, Garfield), just makes me wonder what kind of stupendous fuckturd makes such decisions at movie studios / publishers.

OOO this is good news, this was fun on xbox. I didn't mind the controls, either, because there isn't a lot of long-range fire fighting. Xbox controls are fine for this style of shooter.

Severance - blade of Darkness should run fine.. i tried it not long ago with the 1 patch thats out for it.. still ran fine controlls wern't too bad.

Enclave was a great game, fairly mindless but good fun, pc port was fantastic.

Whats wrong with halo? apart from the fact that 5+ years ago it was meant to run flawlessly on a gf2gts? and now it crawls on dx9 cards nah not much wrong there.. oh wait yeah gearbox cant port for shit

Oh, I think starbreeze are awsome. After all, they have some Future Crew power behind them - that counts for a lot. I'm sure they won't mess up visually. I was just saying that devs that do a straight port from console to PC are selling it short. Need to go the extra mile to use the full potential.

My main point was that FPSes are somewhat worse on console than PC, mainly because there still hasn't been a good analog-twitch controller solution that works quite as well as a mouse...

Riddick is the 2nd best game on the xbox... 2nd only to Halo. The normal mapped graphics are amazing... I doubt Doom3 will look any better. My only gripe is that it's too short at 12+ hours. Still, I can't complain... After beating it, I got $35 trade-in at EB

Hey, Enclave! Thanks for reminding me of that great game. ( well of course it is, it's from sweden, and we swedes rock... )
Gonna install it right now, not much story, but great gfx and action.

Hoping CoR will be the same high quality port.

PS. Tried to play Severence: Blade of Darkness, but it's pretty old and doesnt seem to play well on the newest hardware. Controls dont respond and lots of CTD's, and no patches...

I even tried Die by the Sword. Works great and still fun, especially on a lan.

HoSpanky..

I agree 100%. These retards are too dim to understand the concept that the textures ARE NOT displaying at the full potential when you see them on the Xbox. Odds are they planned from day 1 to have a PC port of this game too, so I'm sure they took texture detail into account while designing it.

It's really sad how most people these days are completely unable to think past the surface of an issue.

He cut the possum's face off then cut around the eye socket. In the center of the belt buckle, where the possum's eye would be, he has placed a small piece of wood from his old '52 Ford's home made railroad tie bumper. Damn, he misses that truck.
