PS3 support in patch.

Not only PS3 but SM3.0 in general is now supported which means that the 1.2 patch adds Geometry Instancing which increases the FarCry performance up to 10-20% according to a FC developper.

The first game in a long list to support the shiny new features of the GF 6800 series with increased performance and image quality.

...1) when you shoot a guy while he's firing and his gun noise cycles endlessly? Or the sound issues in general?
2) how the monkeys take all your armor with one silly swipe, yet armor can absorb a half-dozen bullets or more
3) the pit near the end of the last level, which is unreasonable crazy-hard unless you cheat by sticking a chair in the door and making everything come to you
4) the battle with the mutant scientist guy starts with you facing him and four soldiers, with small cover that they just toss grenades over? It's just plain bad design.

FarCry MP is pretty much a lost cause, nobody plays because it runs so badly. I got it for the single play anyways, which is the best we've had in a long time, except near the end when the difficulty is jacked up to 11. A game based on being clever and stealthy should not end with out-in-the-open gun battles which require multiple tries and luck, not smarts. Metal Gear Solid 2 suffered from the same syndrome for half of its bosses.

the small bug fixes are fine, but what about the serious bugs. i, amongst others spent our hard earned cash on this game only to realize that after installing it it runs fine untill you re-bot your machine. after re-boot, it does not load any more. you have to re-install the damn thing again. after some research and endless e-mails, they finally achnowledged that something screwy happens in the registry that modifies driver settings. where is the fix for this !?

As long as you play on servers with green pings, you should be OK. Don't even bother looking at the numbers.

the netcode is fine, i have had good games all the way from here in kansas connecting to a server in germany with 150ping and no lag issues at all. the problem is that running a dedicated server for farcry is a resorce hog and many people try to run servers when they don't have adiquite hardware or bandwidth.

The multiplayer implementation is actually pretty well thought out. It's definitely not just a tacked-on deathmatch; they put some time into it. Unfortunately, as mentioned, the netcode is terrible, and you lag too badly to really make the game playable. Add to that the fact that you have to have an ubi.com account to play and it's not very popular. Most people see that and they don't bother, and, as it stands, I can't blame them. With some patches, though, it could be pretty fun.

I do not agree.
I bought it for the single player.
Ubi Soft could not possibly think they can touch any of the multiplayer titles out there.
The MODS for Far Cry would probably worth playing though. Everyone knows corporate game developers suck at multiplayer.

If you put multiplayer on the box and it sucks, you take away from the game. It's better to have no option than a bad one. Half-assed is not the way to go.

This game does not tout great multiplayer action does it?
I don't ever recall reading anything about the experiance you will have with multiplayer. I remeber something to the effect of, "supports multiplayer combat".

And isn't this the same exact list they used for their "proposed" updates? This looks famaliar.

Far Cry is a great game, but for the love of god, I have never found a server that doesn't lag like hell. It is the only game where I can be pinging 45, but be jerking every which way (and witnessing others doing the same). The netcode for this game is terrible, and I hope this patch fixes some of those issues.

All much needed changes!
But are they too late?

I really enjoyed Far Cry Assault mode, reminded me a lot of the good old SOF2 multiplayer, but game INBALANCES eventually got me fed up with it after a few weeks.

Crytek took 3 weeks right out after the release of the first patch just after launch just to make a PS3.0 Demo for Nvidia.

I hope it was worth the time.
