Ships Ahoy - Soldiers: Heroes of WW2

Enter the Battle Zone! Codemasters Announces Shipping of "Soldiers Heroes of World War II" (thanks Frans) has news of availability of Best Way's World War II RTS game. In other shipping news, Bold Games and Gabriel Entertainment Offer Slice of Americana with 'John Deere American Farmer' announces availability of this game aimed at the heartland. Finally, this EBgames listing announces availability of the Spider-Man 2 movie tie-in game. Here's more on Soldiers:
Combining the thrills of a 3D shooter and the depth of a real-time strategy game, players must rely on nerves of steel to prevail in 30 missions incorporating the actions and events of actual war heroes. Soldiers travels into the heart of combat alongside U.S., British, German and Russian forces, where players take chances in completely destructible environments as they blow up railway tracks, kidnap enemy officers, destroy convoys, witness assassinations and work toward POW rescue. More than 100 accurately modeled vehicles and weapons with advanced capabilities, including track speed, acceleration, turret speed, reload rates and armor, help units flee in the wake of heated enemy fire. In addition, the game's advanced AI allows for enemy attacks in formation, retreats, ambushes and assistance in looking for cover during an attack.

Glad to hear of an extensive tutorial. If I ever open a game manual, it's as a reference. A game should be intuitive enough that reading a manual before playing is unnecessary. Even tool tips are better than nothing, but I saw very few in the demo.

Full game does have a tutorial, and an extensive one at that, so I've heard.

I found the demo frustratingly difficult at first until I figured out how everything works. I suppose there are other ways to win the demo, but figuring out how to refuel, and finding the land mines were key for me.

The full version of Soldiers has a Tutorial, and of course a manual. It's a little bit like a point and click adventure game, it's just tough learning everything in the fast pace of the demo mission.

Reading readme.txt = teh win

I'm dying to see Brothers in Arms... I'm sick of ridiculous one-man-army WW2 action games with instant-heal health kits all over the place. But this game looks somewhat interesting. I found the demo very confusing without any sort of tutorial... if the full game doesn't have a tutorial, forget it.

I've so been waiting for this game. I admit, I'm a bit tired of WWII games, mostly of the MoH/CoD kind as they are about as realistic as well, I can't even think of anything THIS unrealistic.

Soldiers is a pretty originial game, can't wait to pick it up.

Sounds like you're ready for the innovation and originality that is 'John Deere: American Farmer'
heh, i checked the site http://www.boldgames.com/johndeere.html and, assuming it's professionally done, it could actually be a fun "Sim Farm" game.
