Out of the Blue

My run of hardware going bad on me continues, as this morning I find the LCD monitor on my work machine seems to have failed (sigh). It occurs to me that its possible that the frequent power glitches here may be a contributing factor to general electronics strain, but this monitor is plugged into a UPS. On the other hand, it has also been in near-constant operation for something like five-years straight now, so I guess this is not necessarily a case of premature hardware failure anyway. Oh well...

Yeah, you left, and we got Bosco instead. I never thought I'd say this, but compared to him, you're tolerable.

here were definately parts where it felt like Moore was only telling the part of the story he wants me to hear.

That's the impression I got, too. The problem with Moore bombarding the audience with every tiny detail that makes something look bad is that when he omits even the slightest detail, I must assume that the omission is because it would make his case significantly less compelling. Maybe I'm just too cynical.

For example, he makes a big deal about the fact that only 1 congressman has a son in the enlisted military, but does not mention how many congressman's children are officers in the military. He then starts badgering Representatives on the streets of Washington trying to get them to enlist their children, but we only see congressman who run away from the camera.

I think the point he is trying to make with this is the fact that a Congressman without children in the military and who is in support of the war even exists at all, if only even a few. It's pointing the finger at the undeniable "detachment" that occurs in politicians. Hard to argue with that, even if his methods of portraying it are pretty radical.

As someone else said, in somewhat different terms, nobody gives a flying fuck unless you shove it in their faces.

Well the problem with the Dems not picking a decent candidate is Democrats and Republicans are just shades of each other in order to get a large portion of the vote they have to be quite similar on several levels and what we truly need is several more sizeable parties. Like Halsy said it is a lesser of two evils situation right now.

I have no love for Kerry, but voting for the lesser of two evils is still voting for a lesser evil. And if you don't understand by now that Bush is a greater evil...than heaven help you, and heaven help America.

Here is a nice LCD display :-)
http://www.pc.ibm.com/us/intellistation/t221/
22.2" 3840 x 2400

One of the problems with it is that it takes two DVI connections to power, and still only runs at 48Hz because of lack of bandwidth.

The Lieberman monitor specs are a bit misleading. Putting 4 23" screens together makes a 74.9" screen, not a 92" screen.

My problem with Moore is I get hung up on his bullshit. When he says (or at least implies) something that is outright false that throws the rest of the film in a negative light. When I start wondering how much of what I'm seeing is that result of creative editing or staging (something he has proven to not be above) I can't focus on what his actual message is.

To be perfectly honest all Moore's film did was made me want to vote for Bush just to spite Moore. In all honesty, whats the difference between Bush and Kerry? Not much, both are fucking douche bags. It's either a vote for Mickey Mouse or a vote to piss off Moore.

Had the dems picked a decent candidate I might be singing a different tune, but getting swing votes requires a litte more than nominating the slightly lesser of two evils.

Not unlike Howard Stern, M. Moore is a product of his opposition.

ie When you're trying to get the message out: "Hey!!! Wake Up!!! Look what's Going On in this Country!!!" and you're opposition is neo-con fascist heavy hitters like Cheney, Rumsfeld, Wolfowitz, Ashcroft, etc., then nice polite academinc aguments made by clean cut formal debaters are INEFFECTIVE. You HAVE to become a M. Moore in order for the message to have any Impact at all.

Even though it's Not just a shtick (he really IS that focked up) what Moore is doing is Guerilla Marketing.

Like those idiotic anti-tobacco ads by TheTruth.com (talk about a misnomer) - they're false, misleading, stupid, annoying, childish... but ohhh sooo EFFECTIVE.

Cruel world, I'm never going to get in. I'm convinced that I must have deleted the email by accident, with 80 spam messages a day it's the only plausible explanation.

I used my old e-mail which I no longer have. I bet I got in on that e-mail. That would be my luck.
