On the DOOM 3 Date [Jun 22, 2004, 5:52 pm ET] – Share – Viewing Comments
A couple of recent doings have stirred the pot a bit regarding the release date
for DOOM 3, id Software's eagerly anticipated upcoming shooter remake.
DOOM 3 Release Date Set
on IGN points out that
Gamestop
and EBgames each are
listing August 3 as the "official" just-announced release date for the game, for
which the release date had been "when it's done" until it was recently announced
that it would be done this summer (story). On a related note, a
few folks have pointed out that the British
Board of Film Classification has a
DOOM III Listing (thanks for small "b" blue for being the first) with a
rating for the game, a seeming indication that they've already been able to
review all its content, which some are taking as another indication of the
game's relative imminence.
I would not upgrade my graphics card for just one game, especially Thief 3, which is very unoptimized graphically. You may also want to look into ATI's 9600XT line, unless of course you hate ATI, in which case just buy the best Nvidia card you can afford.
