Out of the Blue

Happy Birthday Quake! As noted on ROME.RO, the grand old game turns eight today. Wow, where does the time go!

I've had a couple of readers write in describing problems they've had reaching the site. Hump points out that these stories sound familiar to him, as he had a similar problem recently. He recommends HijackThis as the utility that helped solve the problem for him, so I thought I'd pass that tip along, though a caveat applies, as the site itself describes the dangers of the method they use: "As a result, false positives are imminent and unless you are sure what you're doing, you should always consult with knowledgeable folks (e.g. the forums) before deleting anything." Of course, the other problem with this tip is offering it on this site specifically to help people having trouble reaching this site, but hey, what are you going to do? At least I tried...

Play Time: Sliding-Door Maze
Link of the Day: GameDeck. Me want.
Stories of the Day: Antarctic hero 'reunited' with cat.
Dead man lay in driveway for 4 days.

Burping sheep are bad for the planet.
Images of the Day: Band Names. Thanks Ant.
Media of the Day: Dangeresque. Thanks Ant.
Auctions of the Day: 14K White Gold Claddagh ring, 0.4 OZ, THE HOE LEFT ME! Thanks K H.
Giant Reconstructed Shark Jaw to be Auctioned.
Follow-ups: Climate film put to computer test.
Alternative Fuels Cropping Up.

I find your post's tone and (especially) its use of "j" word to be indecent.

As I do wish to give you a warning, you owe me only $50,000 in fines.

Please don't report me to the F.B.I. What's teh cheat code to make the two nekkid chicks dance in teh landing pod? Why does it crash out in X-Windows on level two? I can only play it on a linux system because my budget does not allow for upgrading my p 1.9 256mem ati radeon 8500 system for a long, long, time.

Fook why does every new game up the standards for what kind of computer you have so that after 1-3 years you can't play new multiplayer network games at an enjoyable FPS????

That was the whole point about building a user community fan base with upgrades. They could have a gazillion people playing doom iii based on doom 1 archiatecture/code in millions of countries everywhere. It would be the bestest in the whole absolute world.

Bosco, in the words of Walter Sobchek..."SHUT THE FUCK UP DONNY!"

You're lucky I'm not Blue or I'd be forwarding your IP and the corresponding statement off to the F.B.I.. In fact, hey Blue, do society a favor and pass that along.

At least nin was kind enough to let us know he would be gone for a few... I didn't see an absentee notice from you, mister. Now go sit in the time-out chair and think about what you've done. Why can't you be more like your brother Halsy?

I mentioned yesterday in the tech-bits that I couldn't access Arstechnica all day.
I left the window with the error-message open overnight and this morning, I press enter on the Address line and it opens right up, so it wasn't any installed software problem.
I'm not so upset about the delay, but I am worried that maybe some cowardly deceitful blocking was going on by my ISP, just passing it off as a 'can't find it' problem.
Perhaps they set their net too fine, or hopefully it was just a glitch, although the name was resolved to an IP address by DNS...

For Skinny Puppy and Ministry fans...from theninhotline.net ...

Ministry will also start a tour with Skinny Puppy on Labor Day, tied in to the Punkvoter.com organization. "Our goal is to register 100,000 kids on the tour," says Jourgensen. "I'll do anything to entice them: sign autographs, give blowjobs, whatever." The Punkvoter shows will run up to the November 9th election.

So, uh...if ya wanna have fun with Al, this is the tour for you.

And Ministry has an album out today?

Oh you stupid, stupid fuck. Can't you find a more appropriate forum for your homosexual fantasies?

And you should give up the "I don't care" pose. Can't you do better than that? Any six year old could come up with that line and mindlessly repeat it the way you do.

Besides, it should be obvious to everyone that you DO care, otherwise you wouldn't be posting here trying to draw attention - ANY kind of attention - to yourself in the first place. Guess you're too stupid to realize we'd figure that out though.

Hard to imagine that somebody could crave attention SO badly they're willing to look for any variant - even contempt. But there you are. You and the hundreds of thousands of losers exactly like you.

I'm sure you'll just respond with something equally stupid, but when you look in the mirror, you know what I'm saying is true. Don't you.

You can keep crying out for attention if you want, but I've given you too much already. So long loser.

"But if deprived - through whatever kind of slavery - of growth and straightforwardness, Youth is forced to do crooked acts that later become a heavy burden of fears and dangers. And since Youth cannot carry such a burden upright, it turns to deceit and to requiting wrong with wrong. By acting in such a way, they say, Youth comes to manhood or womanhood with no soundness of mind, though still believing itself to be very clever."

Oh look the knuckle dragger can cut and past. You win the prize, now stick your hands in a meat grinder.

I've played my share of warez games, but I never felt like I had to be asshole about it. It's funny how a lot of kids these days seem to think that being an asshole should be a source of pride - as if it made them any different from the hundreds of thousands of other assholes out there.

Newsflash, Bosco: It doesn't.

Newsflash, belial: I couldn't care less, now go slam your wang in the door please.
