Um the reason nobody is buying any games is because no good games are out. Summer is the perfect time to release a game as the grubby little kids all have summer job money to go spend.

Need more time to generate hype. The name is so cheesy though - I've always thought of this as a low budget title.

I was just reading an article which mentions that game publishers believe gamers don't buy games during the summer and that they like to hold off on selling games until the winter holidays. It doesn't make sense to me... Why would they want to compete with every other decent game being released at that time? A few good games suffered lack luster sales last winter mainly because of the fact that there was too much competition. For example, Beyond Good and Evil was a great game, that no one bought because it was released at the same time as 50 other "Holiday" games.

When I was younger and I had more time to game, it was during the summer... when it was too fucking hot to go out side.

I guess the publishers are too greedy to realize that Xmas winter isn't the only time they can get the parents out to WalMart to spend some cash.

Hmmm... This title will sell better with Doom 3 and Half Life 2 on the same shelf? Don't think so.. I got money to spend now, but I won't when I buy HL2 and D3 AND a new vid card.

I agree, hitman did not do well because they pulled a "Tombraider" and reused the same old engine with the same old game mechanics (which was especially painful for the PC version which was technically hopelessly behind the curve). Shellshock is the same cross-platform least common denominator stuff.

Done but not released? Can you HL2 will be out in September 2003? Can you say WMD in Iraq?

These guys are all liars. You might think that is harsh. Listen to this story.

There is a show called last comic standing on TV. The judges were drew carey, brett butler and 2 other people I forget. The show was them judging comics to go live in a house and do the survivor bit.

The show is held and the occupants of the house are picked. When they are done, Brett Butler says "This is bull%%## and walks off camera. They show her go to the losing comics and say "We did not vote for those people on stage. You guys got shafted".

Then they show drew carey talking to the shows producer. Drew carey looks at the camera and says the people chosen are bullshit. The producer then admits that it was not just the comics voting. He says that the production people were voting also. They just "forgot" to tell Drew and Brett and the other judges.

The comics chosen were chosen by the producers, even though all the hype for the show said "Panel of 4 judges starring drew carey will chose the comics". Drew was angry they had paid him to be a face while the producers made the decisions.

The producers chose about 3 good comics and 7 people for fireworks. 3 or 4 ho's, a black man bragging about the size of his penis, 1 guy who is a jerk and guaranteed to start fights when the house is filmed.

Everyone is a liar. Most of what you see in the press is a lie.

Growing up us really a disappointment.

Yeah, I watched that last night also, and the selection was crap. The one guy from NY was killing me, the one with the crappy apratment and he had gone to Law School and the one that told the cameras to screw at the end of the show, his timing was great and he had an awesome set. The show is TOTALLY fixed, they just picked a token person to represent some male or female ethnical group and sexual orientation (your token unfunny gay guy) for TV ratings, stupid. I'm not going to even watch it anymore, dumb.

so, did u get an idea as to what the judges selection would have been? were they all white? or were some of the ethnic lot actually funny?


I hate the political correctness crap. choosing some black guy so as to be 'fair' to the world in general, when the other guy is obviously more talented is so damn annoying.

Certainly some of the "non-white" male and female contestants who made it deserve to be there, but not as many as they picked. Hell even a couple "white" people shouldn't even be in the finals as they weren't funny, they were just people that the 'production' team felt would make waves in the 'house'. So it didn't really come down to talent in the end, just what looekd better for ratings.

What a crock of shit. Since when has Summer been a bad time to sell anything that is primarily aimed at the under-30 market? I guess that's why all those big action movie blockbusters never come out in the Summer?

This is what happens when an industry becomes bloated and corrupt. When someone drops the ball, absconds with the funds, or there's a corporate power struggle underway, they have to find some insanely lame reasoning why.

Take the game industry back - support small, independent game developers and let the mega-scumbags starve to death.

This game does have potential. Ironicaly most Vietnam based war games I've purchased in the past were good games. I was really looking forward to it. I must agree with some of the other posters here. How could competing agaisnt Half Life 2 and Doom 3 be more profitable?

I think September is one of the highest months for new PC Games as well. Doesn't this mean publishers have a higher potential to lose more sales from the gamer on a budget? I.e. choosing a better game from their perspective.

All that's posted is too true. But the big trouble is that now, this game could find a cult following during the 'supposedly slow' summer months. Now it'll get lost in the torrent of good/cool games come september.
