Out of the Blue

Okay, so what did I miss? I just caught a portion of The Matrix Reloaded on the satellite again yesterday, and something stuck in my mind that I hadn't noticed before (let me insert a spoiler warning here in case you have yet to see this one... just skip to the links of the day).

So the Architect tells Neo that they've destroyed Zion six times now, but then later refers to Neo's five predecessors. I they've destroyed Zion six times, wouldn't he be the seventh Neo? If there was a version of this event that didn't include a Neo (or if the Architect was simply lying), I would hope that would be clarified. On the other hand, if this repopulate Zion scenario took place as he described, wouldn't the "old" Neo be part of Zion's current populace? I guess this all speaks again to how disappointed I was in how few further wrinkles about all this were included in Matrix Revolutions.

Doesn't the Architect say that "this will be the sixth time", and not that it's already been done 6 times previous?

The other day I watched the original Matrix and Reloaded right afterwards. I actually enjoyed Reloaded the first time I saw it, but when you watch the two back-to-back like that you really realize just how much of a drop in quality there is from the first to the second (I haven't rewatched the 3rd since I saw it in theatres, but wasn't impressed the first time I saw it either).

Yeah, nice way to cover up there, Blue (:D) Try to use the jedi mind trick and distrack us with Matrix talk...

WalterEgo - where's the dance floor pics?!

I liked Reloaded...the third one is when it totally dropped off. Morp becomes this 2d character in the background, a certain person DIES that seemed needless, we're supposed to be concerned/entertained with Jada "no emotion" Picket Smith, and then we don't really know what happened to Neo? WTF?

I get pissed just thinking about that movie...

I really wish I could go back in time and stop myself from seeing Reloaded and Revolutions, because the original was so great, even with the open ending, and then it just gets smashed to pieces by the shittiness of the other two.

blue,

he actually says that "this will be the sixth time we have destroyed it"...

here is a link to a transcript of the talk, with mouse-over word definitions in case someone doesn't know what "ergo" means!

and yes, the "old neo" would be a part of zion, likely a member of the councel... it is my opinion that the old Neo is the guy who gave the speech to the new Neo down in the engineering section in Zion.

But I thought the old guy didn't have the imputs all over his body like Neo does? (I don't remember seeing any on his head or arms.)

Maybe there have been a few generations in Zion and the old Neo is long dead.

I'd always figured the architect was going to kill Neo after he'd chosen the people for the next Zion. Yeah, I didn't think about who'd explain the truth to them, but maybe they'd have figured it out for themselves ("Nobody can be told what the matrix is - they have to see it for themselves" ?)

Doesn't mean there was a Neo the first time around. He could have just scrapped it because he realized he needed a messiah figure to make it work.

Love that zombie article!

Anyone have online footage of that bee incident? I'd love to see it.

Quantum state teleportation = good!

Shell boss worried about CO2 emissions? I'd think he'd be decidely more worried about Peak Oil as it's almost here. Sounds more like a PR stunt than a real concern, however.

That cloud shot is trippy. Enahs must have been smoking lottsa' blunts for that one.

Haven't checked it out yet...I've managed to get over 40 cds in the mail this week (2-3 more due today or tomorrow) that I have to rip/check out this weekend. SP isn't one of them.

(There's a lot of Orbital, Underworld, and Muse, though.)

Yours is actually the best anyway, WJ. You got my vote. The "boosting" relations one was pretty funny. Good pun too.

Your gallery is pretty spiffy. I like your Eiffel at Night: Vertigo and Fall Leaf.

*insert elitist art comment here* It reminds me of mans inhumanity towards man. And that we are doomed to the ultimate horrification of our bare existence.

How stupid do I feel for not making sure of that before making a big deal about it here?

I am still interested in the former Neo thing though. I want to see it again in light of the theory that this councilman might be the previous Neo...
