Anyone play the deadwood cussing game? I reading a site and they said the word F*ck over 300 times in one episode.

Brad Dourif deserves an emmy as well, at least in my opinion. The finale showcased his talents quite well, and he's utterly believable as the doc. Best new show in a long while.

I've had to work with people like that before (too full of themselves), and you just want to beat them. Or maybe that's just me. They go out of their way to make things more difficult for you, when it would be so easy for them to just do what you've asked. But anyway, I'm preaching to the choir here.

I thought you had one of those metal splints on your finger. If not, maybe you ought to put it back on until it's completely healed.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't free radicals promote cancer and aging? Basically, they cause cellular damage. And now these clothes create free radicals to clean themselves(so the article points out). And it's not just that, they explicitly say in the article that the process of cleaning is through oxidization of ORGANIC chemicals. Exactly what free radicals do to our bodies that make them so bad. It might be a jump in the gun, but putting on these clothes seem to me like taking a bath in acid.

I guess I'm the only one who found Deadwood to be too contrived and the dialogue way too precious for its own good. McShane is definitely good. Anyone see Sexy Beast? I've been waiting a long time for Six Feet Under to come back. Nothing like a show in which every single character is seriously fucked up and fucked up in their own way (to paraphrase Tolstoy). The ending was absolutely brutal.

It's not first and foremost. Work is just a bear right now. I have roughly 15 projects I'm responsible for directly. That's on top of all of the back office stuff I do, dealing with college help, the hiring of a full time electrician (which means learning a whole new lingo) as well as helping the main estimator/project manager with his project close out documentation. One particular job that I'm trying to close out has been in progress since I joined in early 2000. One of the main people involved with this project is no longer with the company and the only other person I can get record documentation from is an ass. He doesn't like the fact that I'm his boss and just can't get over himself. Add to that the fact that he has moved on to other projects and he can't be bothered to help me out.

Over the weekend I managed to whack out my finger at least twice. Both times doing something that is just plain simple to do - if your finger isn't messed up like mine. First time was mowing the lawn, second was applying a coat of stain to a piece of unfinished furniture.

So while my finger had returned to roughly 90% of it's normal position (maybe a 5 degree angle) it's now back to its f'd up 45 degrees.

I got home from work, spent some time with the family and feel a wee bit better now.

As for Jane leaving (not sure if this was already answered) she left because she didn't want to be a drunk where Wild Bill was buried, even though Charlie Udder (Utter, Udter?) offered her a job--or is my memory on this also less than reliable? ;P

SDT: I think you heard that part wrong. All All said when he brought the preacher back to Doc's, was that he passed, and that the "wily cocksucker waited 'til I got him off the sled" before dying, and that he only brought him when he did because he needed the room for his whores. Then he asked Doc if he was going to put a probe in his noggin to see what was wrong, and Doc said no, he was going to drink in. Then Al's "announcing your plans is a good way to hear god laugh" line.

My take on this is that the doc knew what he was signing the preacher on for when he pushed him off on Al, and that his guilt over that was really the motivation for his prayers.

When Al brought the preacher back to the Doc's place he said something about how the Doc had made his intentions known in a more vague manner than usual, or something like that. For the life of me I can't remember what was said exactly, but basically Al was confirming that what he did is what the Doc had intended from the start. Then again, I could have heard that part all wrong. Eh, I'll figure it out soon enough, 'cause I plan on watching that finale another 2 or 3 times.

Very true Blue. I think Tony has a strong moral center, he's just trapped in a situation where he can't act upon his revelations. Which is where Melfi has both failed and succeeded. I think the best line in the Sopranos finale was when Tony said to her, "All my decisions have been wrong." That to me was a powerful statement when you look at what's happened over the last 5 seasons (more specifically the last 3).

The way Al talks to his cronies, his behavior towards Bullock, the Chinaman, and Sol, everything he does shows us what direction his moral compass is pointing. He's a lot like Tony, where you basically know what his character is but you never know when he'll just flip and be someone you never expected. Al is just as unpredictable.

And like Gandolfini, McShane gives us more in one stare than most actors (excluding most HBO cast members) can in an entire 10 minute scene. When he peered down at Trixie in that last shot I was just like "Damn I don't want this show to end".

I'm feeling so down today I could use just about anything to kick start some happiness.

He's an old, old school Tony Soprano, except he gets away with a lot more and doesn't need to be as cautious.

To some degree I agree (about what he's capable of getting away with), but I find Al's degree of introspection much more interesting... often he's got his own very strong moral center, even if it's quite off-center by most standards.

It was pointed out here that he is often looking down upon the proceedings like god... SST: and last night he proved a more merciful god to the minister than the one the doctor prayed to. My take on this is that the doc knew what he was signing the preacher on for when he pushed him off on Al, and that his guilt over that was really the motivation for his prayers. I also thought it was more than significant that Al didn' push this off on his button man (or now, either of his button men, with the addition of the bagman).

Powerful stuff.
