Mob Enforced Unveiled

The Mob Enforcer Website (thanks Frans) reveals a life of crime-themed first-person shooter in the works at ValuSoft. The site does not provide a release date, and, in fact, allows the game to be added to your shopping cart, so when this project will be released (if it hasn't been already) is still a bit of a mystery. Here's the deal on the game:
Mob rule has taken over and Al Capone’s fighting for control of the streets. You are Jimmy “Machine Gun” DeMora, Scarface’s main enforcer. Pay off cops and knock off informants to rise through the ranks. Wash your hands in the blood of many to seize control of Chicago’s underworld. It’s nothing personal—it’s just business.

New Face on Mob scene brings chaos, death!

    • Prove your loyalty to the Boss through 10 lead-riddled levels.
    • Rival thugs are muscling in on your territory. Teach them the meaning of respect with a little help from 9 authentic weapons.
    • Use strong-arm tactics to coerce support from Chicago’s citizens including hits, payoffs and extortion.
    • Immerse yourself in 1920’s street fights with state-of-the-art effects and 3D stereo sound.

'I'd challenge one comment poster to tell me that they've played a game published by ValuSoft that they have enjoyed.'

---

I rather liked "I Was An Atomic Mutant!'. I thought the programmers did a fine job. I believe the graphics and sound were very well done and it was a humourous take on the classic 'Rampage' arcade game.

"Desert Rats" had some neat moments, too. Moving the jeep using the keyboard and the gunner with mouse at the same time was fun -- and being able to go into bullet-time whenever I wanted was nice.

So, just to confirm this, none of you have actually played it?

Damn them. And all of the GOOD old games are in the bargain bin where those old folks look at them and say "oh, those are old games, they must be bad".

As l33t gamers of the world, we must do more to prevent such atrocities from continuing!

I think most of Valu-Soft's sales come from uninformed aunts/uncles/grandparents, who know little Jimmy is a gamer. They go to Wal-Mart, but since $50 is usually a bit much for just any random birthday or Christmas present (especially with plenty of nephews or grandsons to buy for), they look more along the lines of $10-$20, and that's where Valu-Soft comes in. They're cheap, they're games, hurrah. Come December 25th, little Jimmy will be hoping for Half-Life 2, or Halo 2, or Doom III, and instead he'll end up with trash like this. This is why, long ago, I asked my relatives to not even try to buy games for me, or to ask me specifically what I wanted, rather than forcing me to return the games to Wal-Mart or wherever and spend the cash at Amazon or EBGames.

They're still in business so they must be doing *something* right. Either that or I've seriously over-estimated the average person.

Wow, cynical to extra-cynical, all in less than 24-hours.

ummm... you forgot to include "Sinbad" in that list... heheh, I still remember the dialouge with the gypsie, where you had the option to do the bitch, only it set you back a couple days time...hahaha

and the slingshot battles against the cyclops sliding back and forth behind stalagmites...

that was some bad-ass 16-color EGA action

I'm kind of angry because Valuesoft's game "Nitro Family" was ALMOST fun to me. It had style and character, but was very lacking with weapon variety and enemy variety.

I also don't understand how a game several years after Serious Sam (using the same engine) managed to have worse graphics and sound and run slower!

I guess the only budget company worth buying from will remain Croteam. I've played through both Serious Sam's like over 3 times each and I'm still not quite bored of it.

Why bother even posting this crap?
A. Comic Relief.
B. Reminds you who to avoid buying from.
C. Confirms that this genre is finally saturated when you see the bottom feeders jumping on the bandwagon.
