Ray, what's this about NewEgg and an X800 Premium??

My only question is when is Nvidia releasing their next set? Yeah, not ATI, but it is a driver.

After 4 months the game has been out ATI has finally fixed the corrupt graphics in BF: vietman- wow! the game actually looks and plays good now

Heh; I was talking about the premium NewEgg is magically charging for x800 cards, not that there is any type of x800 Premium card.

To buy a x800 (Pro), I could try a few of the following:

$399.99 at Ati.com

$399.99 at BestBuy.com

$399.99 at CompUSA.com

$399.99 at the local Fry's Electronics

$399.99 at the local hobbyist outlet

Yet, NewEgg has some type of special x800 Pro card(s) that cost at least $459.00 - almost a 15% markup.

Hence, my comment.

It's probably the XT version of the x800. Shops around here have the x800 Pro and x800 XT, which is $100 more than the Pro.

D'oh. Totally misread that.

Well, when supply is so low, they instantly sell out whenever they become in stock, and Newegg has a huge mob of raving fans (and quite deservedly so), they might as well charge a premium eh?

Only folks with money to burn would buy one at this point and a lot of those folks aren't going to care too much about the price...

No, it is the Pro. As Tom has alread pointed out, NewEgg it just taking the "Hey, we have have it and you want it - pay up, sucker!" approach.

I am just a bit surprised because NewEgg is generally decent about prices and, even for gouging, it does seem a bit late into the release (frot he Pro at least) to still be doing that.

If somebody were actually going to pay that much, I would just order the XT elsewhere. Just waiting about two weeks, one could spend $40 more for the XT from any of the other retailers...

I ordered a Mobo, CPU, RAM and copper heatsink from Newegg. None of it worked, the heatsink did not have a flat edge so it was worthless, the Mobo would not boot up. They agreed to take it all back and didn't even charge a restocking fee. Turns out I forgot to plug in the extra 4 plug power cable. So everything except the heatsink was all working fine. Yea, Im a dumbass, but I think they deserve credit for not charging me a restocking fee had I returned everything.

Actually, it looks like NewEgg doesn't have any of the x800 Pro in stock- maybe they just haven't been updating their prices since they don't have any to sell?
