Out of the Blue

Summer is still officially a couple of weeks off, but I have a feeling today may bring the cooling situation in my office to a head. They are projecting a heat index (which I guess accounts for the anti-wind chill factor) in the 100s today, and with only an aging undersized air conditioner to counter this, I may be in trouble here. Maybe I ought to consider moving my office out of the attic (for the summer at least), as the rest of the house is far more comfortable without AC than my office is with it (at least the inadequate one running up here right now), though of course this would involve moving computers and a few hundred action figures and assorted toys, so biting the bullet and looking to find an air conditioner that's more suited to its job is probably still the (always desirable) path of least resistance.

Ya, too late to do the uninstall and install the fresh version. I noticed it didn't keep all my extensions. This version seems faster or maybe it's just that some of my old extensions aren't running anymore.

I suggest you rename your "Science!" section to "Science?"

Is that because when you see something under the heading of "science" you think that automatically makes it fact?

http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=science

Science - sciĀ·ence

1. a. The observation, identification, description, experimental investigation, and theoretical explanation of phenomena.
b. Such activities restricted to a class of natural phenomena.
c. Such activities applied to an object of inquiry or study.

Seems to me that Science? == Science!

New firefox 0.9

Release Candidate only. The real deal is supposed to come on Monday.

Of course, if there are no showstoppers between today and Monday, this RC will become 0.9.

Beware -- they apparantly broke all themes (there's a new default Windows theme that's "partially done"), and changed the default key binding for the download manager. They've also implemented some whitelist security for extensions, since there were some naughty sites out there that were putting out takeover extensions.

Oh, and do not try and upgrade your current install. Uninstall it/move it out of the way and then install 0.9. Upgrading is still not supported. You'll keep all your user preferences, but any extensions you installed for all users will need to be reinstalled. Yeah, I agree, it's a PITA and they should really have fixed this issue when they created the self-installing executable.

I have no real idea.

I grabbed it from a discussion board for Deadly Shadows. One person was talking about Garrett's morals in one level, the one with the sailor's wife - where you are essentially stealing her very last items from her departed husband - especially when you know how traumatized she is and how her servants are already plotting against her, and somebody replied with a post that I grabbed the quote from.

It was interesting that somebody was complaining about morals in a game where you are a thief and rewarded for having an extreme lack of morals.

Thinking I would spend 1K of supplies to get a NPCs precious 50 gold ring :o,
Ray

Edit: D'oh! Two sign-offs...

NEIN!!!!! Das ist nicht genug!

I have already tried warning everybody about this to no avail. Anything more than 70F is COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE just as anything below 55F is.

The Earth is coming to an end, I say - an end!

Thinking it hit an insane high of 75F today :o,

...quit your complainin'!

I live an hour or two north of the BlueTower, where it's about as hot and now with thunderstorms. I have no AC. NONE. I've got a fan. DAS IT ALLES.

And guess what? I had a concert tonight. I play the saxophone, and everyone in the band, a sizeable sum, squeezed into the packed auditourium. We played for about 30 minutes, under scorching lights, on a dusty, hot, wooden stage. I don't know if you've ever played a wind instrument but you can get pretty hot playing in the winter. Now imagine what it was like playing that concert. By the end of the first song, sweat was pouring off of everyone's face. When the concert was over, my light collared shirt was soaked clear through.

We played a good concert, though.

I certainly think that there are people which you click with and can easily have a long/happy life together, but the "one true soulmate" seems less reasonable due to how easily one can find their "soulmate" within close geographical distance or even find anouther "soulmate" when leaving a previous one (break up, death, etc.)

I do think it generally takes some time and you really have to know both yourself and the other person - some things just take time - but I do know a few friends/associates that have made that seemingly-magical instant "click."

Planning on seeing Riddick come Friday morning,
Ray

Blue, if your office is indeed your own personal geek heaven (except for the temperature, of course) you should post some pics. I'm sure lots of people would love to see what the throne room of the Blue Tower looks like. Shrug, just a thought.
Only if 'throne room' is synonymous with his 'Office', and not another room upstairs.

While your at it, you could take some shots of the yard, im sure it looks pretty good what with the mown grass, spider webs, hudson dog, and nin watching from his van parked accross the street.

Of course if hes not there, then he would be able to work out where you live and then the next update would include him!

Here in Alabama its not the heat that gets ya! its the danged humidity

When you travel, do people ask if you come from Alabama with a banjo on your knee to see your true love, and if you brought her any Alabamy roses?
