Savage Samurai Mod

The Savage - Samurai Wars Website features downloads of this samurai-themed modification for Savage: The Battle for Newerth, the online multiplayer shooter (apparently this was bundled with the European version of the game). Here's a bit from the press release on the mod, presented with the startlingly politically incorrect subject line 'An Oriental Slant': "Set in Feudal Japan, Samurai Wars allows players to take on the role of a Daimyo (commander) as well as different types of foot soldier. Building on the strengths of the Savage engine, it provides an alternative engrossing playing experience, including the now hugely popular melee content."

Poor savage, one of the most underrated games of last year imo. It had it all; melee weapons to master, ballistas to fire, towers to guard, power-ups to give, seemless transition between 1st and 3rd person views, commander mode...the list goes on.

Only thing it lacked was poor distribution, since the only way to buy it here in australia was over the net, and most people had never heard of it.

Hopefully offset software (sam mcgrath, lead programmer of savage) can better their last attempt with their new project "epic".
