TrackMania Sunrise

An invitation we received to a Digital Jesters press event in London (I probably won't attend -- the BlueJet's in the shop) has brief mention of what the future holds for TrackMania, the puzzle/racing game: "We'll be unveiling five new titles for the first time in the UK - including the amazing TrackMania Sunrise, which sees TrackMania going coastal..."

Wow, this looks pretty insane. I can kinda see where the comparisons to Stunt Track Racer http://www.the-underdogs.org/game.php?name=Stunt+Car+Racer or Stunts
http://www.the-underdogs.org/game.php?id=2162 come into play...

HoSpanky,

I never said anything about TM not being a true racing game. You just happened to read my comment wrong. That's just human, everyone makes mistakes. No harm done. GG

Trackmania is really great, although I've fallen out of the habit due to some other evil addicting games.

This whole thread makes no fucking sense. You're both praising the game and saying the other person is a wrong, as if they're critizising it. WTF?

HoSpanky - where did he say it's not a true racing game? The only mention of something like that is marked as being from reviews, in quote marks and in italics which, will not the official Bluesnews quote format, generally suggests a quote.

so what's with all the complaining that it's not a *true* racing game? or is your post just put together in a way that makes no fucking sense?

Interesting...

You know, I've played TrackMania practically every day ever since the "trackmaniademobeta1" that was leaked in October 2003...

...and I simply love TM.

No, Slam, YOU'RE missing the point of the game.

There's a million barely-different "realistic" racers out there. TrackMania is something DIFFERENT, and while you may not have any capacity to grasp such a concept, it's generally considered a good thing.

Trackmania is never claimed to be a serious racing game. It's straight-up arcade racing on insane courses, PERIOD. I'm sorry, but I LIKE my games with a heavy dose of surreality. If you want realism, then by all means, go buy the next cookie-cutter F1 game. But don't knock a game you haven't played because it doesn't fit what YOU think it should be. Maybe you should PLAY the game (there's multiple demos) and then talk about it.

One thing I have noted in the reviews goes something like:

"TrackMania does not require so much driving skills and is not a racing game but mainly a track building/puzzle game"

Ehhhh... hello!?!?

IMHO, TM is a *true* racing game and is *all about* driving skills. Learning to read the tracks and the environments and thus being faster gives so much pleasure, especially after a particularly well driven round. I'm constantly learning new techniques on how to be faster.

So, saying that TM is a puzzle game shows that you do not really like racing or you're just kinda missing the point of the game.

It'd be really sad if you took a flight to find out about more releases of this crappy "Stunts 3D" game.

So. You haven't actually played it have you. It's basically a puzzle game. Unless you're comparing it to the original "Stunts 3d". Which, obviously, doesn't exist.

TrackMania Sunrise, which sees TrackMania going coastal..

I wonder if it is an add-on or a separate new game?

Anyways, I'm simply gobsmacked about this news and actually my heart skipped a few beats when I read this... don't worry, it's beating now, but faster than usual

TrackMania has brought so much needed *FUN* back to PC racing game genre. Thank you NADEO

the BlueJet's in the shop

After the many thousands of hours of flight time you log, jetsetting around the globe a routine overhaul is needed. Glad to see you following FAA standards B.
