Wow, playing it for the first time - thats unbelievable...

I've been playing this game since '98, I've bought it about four times -- first the original, then after it got lost, bought the original and expansion, then the battlechest.
Next to Fallout its my favourite game, though SS2/Thief really rock my world too.
I can't think of a time I didn't have it installed on my pc.

About Broodwar: imho it is better, more maps, extra units (that really make a difference), really evil story too.
One thing though its much tougher than the original, especially the last couple of missions for the Zerg, hence: "BROODWAR" (did I say it has a great story?)

I dream of a day when Blizzard makes a sequel. Though I don't see how they can top it.
Still it would be really cool.

Sorry about the long post - Its an Excellent Game, Have Fun

And here I am playing through StarCraft for the very first time.

I don't know if I think it's the best RTS ever made, although Korea definitely seems to think so, but I do know it is a tough game. I've struggled on several missions, but somehow found a way to get by.

I've read Brood War is actually better than the original, cuz it's better balanced? True?

Of course they are still patching it. You are going to support the best RTS ever made for as long as it is needed.

It's great they're still supporting the game, but there are still bugs they haven't fixed after six years?

This was a game that when introduced supported Windows 95, NT, and Macs. Many things have changed since. Like Windows 98 came out, and Windows 2000, and XP, new revisions of DirectDraw (a component of DirectX).

Plus more people still play this game than Counter-Strike. So when Blizzard decides to make a patch, they know that there are more than a handful of people who will benefit.
