CS: Condition Zero Patch Plans

Valve sends brief word on plans for a patch for Counter-Strike: Condition Zero next week:
Counter-Strike: Condition Zero v1.2 Coming Next Week

Version 1.2 of CS:CZ will be released next week via Steam. The update includes high-definition hostage models with all-new AI, 2 new player models, brand new maps, and other enhancements.

The improved hostages will show emotions such as fear, attempt to escape on their own if ignored, and even talk to the player to give clues about what they've seen. The new player models feature the Russian SPETSNAZ counter-terrorist and Militia terrorist.

Valve has multiple development teams. The people working on Condition Zero are not the same ones working on Half-Life 2.

Have any of you even played CS:CZ? Im guessing not.

The bot challenge mode is really good and alot of fun, redone maps look and play great. Which is why it's gotten above average reviews.

Outdated engine - Yep
Overpriced - Yep
Good for people that want bot action or the new maps - Yep
Still alot of fun - Yep

The 'deleted scenes' storyline is garbage...which is why it was deleted.

#6, it's obviously not hardcore enough for their refined tastes. If it's not hardcore enough, then obviously it's "made for the masses" and what kind of self-respecting elitist gamer wants to confess that they play *those* games?

CZ rocks, the new visuals are well worth it and it keeps getting better. I'll never play plain CS again, too ugly.

Agreed, I can't stand to play CS or CZ online, but the bots are nice to play once every couple of days.

That's what the Fusion Packs are for, to make CS look good, or rather look better than it does by default. I'm sure that CZ is a good way to get money out of people that dont realise you can just go and download Steam CS, the CZ maps and get FP for better weapons and player models all for free!! They say an idiot is born every minute...

heh

You can tell it's a slow week in gaming news when the more popular stories revolve around patches that aren't actually out yet.

I love CZ too.

I saw nothing wrong with CS... its just outdated as far as the engine goes... and HL 2 will fix that because it will ship with an updated version of CS... which is why patching CZ is stupid. CS was never ment to be single player. I honestly don't see the point.

You're seeing the point is probably not a requirement..

I never played any fps games online before Quake3 and UT. I liked them both, eventually got to the stage where I could beat them both, then jumped online and got my ass handed to me on a platter... after awhile, I started to win fairly often.

Since I've never so much as looked at Counterstrike, I'd probably chose the same route before I jumped in. At least that way I'd know what I was doing and not be screwing up my team all the time...

It's always done for money, but maybe a tutorial version which CZ seems to be will get more people into it for Half Life 2. I hope so, having seen Counterstrike source, I'm thinking seriously about giving it a shot.

It makes you look so smart being a pirate and running your ghetto hack version of CS. You make the world a better place.

Im sorry, what exactly are you on about? Steam CS = Free. Fusion Pack = Free. CZ Maps = Free. Nothing pirated about what im running. I have the CZ maps cause i play custom servers that use them and so automatically download them. All of the models used in FP are available on the net free anyway and you can find the older FP's for free too. So instead of trying to be a smartarse perhaps next time you'll engage you're brain before hands and think about what you're gonna type.

I hate CS online. I hate UT2K4.

But CZ is tons of fun, for $15. Fun gameplay, good bots, no idiot TKers.

If CZ is going to prepare people to play online the bots need to do several things.

1) Accuse you of cheating every time you get a kill.
2) Jump around like the bastard child of Jazz Jackrabbit.
3) Shoot at the corner of a wall for a good 5 seconds, because "somehow" they know you're there.
4) Stand behind you for 5 seconds, looking around, then suddenly TK you because "u shouldn't have run in front of me u st00pid n00b", despite the fact that you were standing still covering a choke point.
5) And finally, they need to insult as many players as possible with racial slurs, and completely pointless references to their sexual orientation.

Hmmm. Maybe the current bots are fine the way they are. Maybe CS players need patching instead
