Crashday Delay

The Crashday Website has word that this racing game's push toward the finish line will be delayed by some extra time in the pits:
Unfortunately Crashday will still take another six months to complete.
However, in the last two months our team probably made the biggest progress since ever. With the help of the recently strengthened team power we were able to improve many aspects of the game. That does not only include graphical improvements (vegetation, scenery backgrounds, new industrial tiles and more) but also advancements in terms of gameplay and artifical intelligence.

Due to the significant changes we replaced our whole screenshot gallery by 14 new shots.

the background textures and the scenery looks fine, but the graphics quality of the cars look shitty. It seems to me like one of the major graphical focuses would be to make the cars as nice looking as possible.

BTW, as an option, this game will have a mounted machine gun and a missle launcher (if you look closely at the video you'll see a small chaingun mounted on the side of some of the cars)

Reminds me of a combination of Viper Racing and Car and Driver.

Loading this up with a few friends and driving like maniacs could be so much fun. Crashing, bumping... I never raced in C&D, just got air and hit stuff. This is exactly what I want.

I've been following the development of this game for a few years now and it will be exciting to compare Crashday to TrackMania. If Crashday is good then there isn't much room in my mind for any other game than those two. I mean, recently, only Far Cry has managed to take some time off from TrackMania but that was just temporary

Carmageddon was stupidly amusing, too.

The demo + police crack = amazing. Just running around, blowing the cars up, seeing how many points I could get in the five minutes. Add the time crack and... wow. So much frickin fun.

I think flatout looks much more promising myself.

This is just an updated "Stunts" game. I don't think the graphics are very good at this point.

Looks like it could be stupid yet amusing for short periods of time.

If it has replays it could be very stupidly amusing.

MMkay.

Ever play carmageddon? Destruction derby style games done right are DAMN FUN

This looks awesome. I wonder how its gonna play? Definitely one to watch!

Regardless of everything else, those are some very nice textures, giving it an almost photo-realistic look.

I'd never heard of it either but check out the features

* Stunt racing game with convincing stunt physics
* Absolute freedom of movement
* Powerful, easy-to-use track editor
(containing sets for country side environments, race tracks, highways, towns & cities,
offroad tracks, stunt pieces and much more)
* Numerous game modes (+ team-based modes)
* Full multiplayer support via Internet and LAN
* Career mode
* 20 varietal, detailed vehicles
* Detailed damage model including real-time dents,
detachable car parts and breakable headlights and car windows
* Numerous tuning possibilities
(wings, rims, engine, decals/airbrush, performance exhausts...)
* Car accessories and weapons optionally available
* Support for savable replays files

I’m definitely keeping an eye on this one.

It could also use the top speed bug.
