So that's err.. a brown, pink, green and black world then, is it?

The 20 min, time limit in Pitfall sucked... I could never beat the clock... Pitfall 2 was the last game I bought and beat for my 2600.

"If the jungle had a butt, he'd kick it!" ?!?!?!? (tagline from boxart)...if the same people who develop this came up with that line, the game is gonna suck.

i really liked the second one (a little more variation then in the first one) ...
but the screenshots of this new one look too much like
toy story ( good film ) and much too "childish" for me.

i guess i even like the 95er version better - why do they have to do everything in 3d?
(the only reason i can think of: to get mentioned on bluesnews ;-)

well, we' will see

I played (and finished) this game on the PS2. It was actually a really good adventure/platform. The level designs were well done, and I think they did a good job translating some of the key Pitfall elements into 3D.

The game uses items to control your path through the game... so while it may appear open-ended, it is quite linear in design. As long as you ignore the paths requiring items you don't have and you follow the red X on your map, you'll keep moving forward through the game. The amount of (lengthy) backtracking involved can get tedious at times...

You can also unlock the original Pitfall and Pitfall 2 in this game. In fact, you need to play a bit of the original Pitfall in order to complete the game 100%.

I never owned a console until about two years ago... so I'm now loving the platform games that you just never found on the PC.

Looks like a port of the console version (available for all 3 consoles and the GBA). It got mediocre reviews as I recall. I seriously doubt they'll do much to change it from the console versions either.

They should set it during WWII.

Also, throw in some nazis and give Harry a whip to go along with the WWII theme.

Then again, Lucas/Speilberg may not like that too much....

I can understand console gamers liking this title as it looks utterly SHITE beyond belief. Why though is it coming to the ultimate gaming machine, the PC? We don't want it.

One way to fix the bad controls is to port the controller to. I have an adapter so I can use my Gamecube controller with my PC. It worked great for the Prince of Persia demo. While keyboard and mouse control is the best for first person games,
Third person games benefit greatly from analog movement control.

Anyone spend much time playing the Pitfall game for the NES?

Basically it was hoping over spiders and riding hot air balloons. I used to love it because there were so many places to explore and try to see, but it was pretty much entirely garbage.
