Out of the Blue

Happy Vesak to all who are celebrating, as today commemorates the birth and enlightenment of the Buddha.

Meanwhile, far from enlightened, I am a bit dazed and confused from over-the-counter cold medications. And these are not even the 'do not drive or operate heavy machinery' sort of meds, so I guess I'm just susceptible to being addled. I know there are kids that abuse these products, but for the life of me, I can't see the appeal.

Does anybody here know of software for PC turner card to decode the scrambled channels.
From what I've heard, the TV tuners are having a bit of trouble with this because the digital cable channels (the first sixty or so are analog) are encrypted. I don't think it's a tough encryption to break, but thanks to the DMCA, it would be illegal to do so, and even more illegal to make a product and sell it.

Still, if you have the cable box you can at least run one of its outputs to the composite input on an ATI All-in-Wonder, and change the channels with your remote. You won't have a true PVR on your computer, but it will work until the laws (hopefully) improve.
