Matrix Online Beta Sign-ups

More MMORPG testing madness, as The Matrix Online Beta Registration is now underway, open to residents of the U.S. and Canada. According to the website they will choose several thousand applicants to test Monolith's upcoming MMORPG, with those selected to be notified of their participation sometime this month. Word is:
Those fortunate few in the beta will take an active role in continuing the saga, created by the Wachowski Brothers in The Matrix movie trilogy, set immediately after the end of The Matrix Revolutions.

Beta testers will engage in "wire-fu" combat and action in an immense urban environment. The game will be a re-creation of the virtual world of The Matrix, employing cutting-edge 3-D graphics, networking and server technology. Gameplay in The Matrix Online will be based an extensive mission structure, social interaction and a completely customizable skill and ability system.

Queue the laugh track. You'd think they'd want to master first person shooters first. Or, shit, menu interfaces.

If the teaser on the Revolutions DVD was any indication, the game is nothing but experienced-based Kung Fu between low-res models in drab back alleys.

If that was the best they could show...

I was going to sign up for the beta, but the beta info page is not encrypted in any way.

I know that sounds paranoid, but it makes me concerned about how little effort they put into protecting information. Even if it is only perceived and SSL doesn't help. What the heck am I defending my arguement for. Put a DAMN SSL page up, idiots.

Reading through the sys reqs...

It turns out the Matrix only needs 5 gigs of hard disk space! Damn, that Architect is one crafty-compression mofo!

The machines also seem to have developed a "Soundblaser" standard for audio they insist you use; this is no doubt a clever strategy on their part to subvert our human SoundBlaster technology.

I'm running a Penium For with a Soundblaser and a GeFork 460o. What are you using?

One more game to join the heap of crappy MOG's that should never have been made.

rofl, funny stuff.

Anyways, let's face facts; it's Monolith. I've never been let down by them in the past, so I'm hoping they will pull through.

Hmmm... I find it strange how so many people forget fantastic shooters such as shogo, and both NOLF titles... I never played tron 2.0 but it got good reviews and my room mate had fun with it...

I knew contract jack would be shoddy from the moment i saw it in previews, it was built to be budgetware.

I played TRON 2.0 and it kicked ass! Loved that game. And NOLF rocked too. I don't have the least problem with Monolith, just this title because while it may translate ok as a movie or even novel where events are tightly scripted and controlled it won't work as a game.

Lets see, they say its open to Canada but they do not allow 6 character postal codes. Plus you can select both yes and no for "I plan on participating in the online message boards". I found that one out because I tried to change from yes to no... so I posted yes-no to that answer.

EDIT: I realized they did not send a confirmation email either... not a very smooth start guys. If I sense deja-vu I'll know they fixed it.

Uh, AVP2 anyone?

This game will probably be good. Maybe not ground breaking, but not a level grind wankerdom of FF2 or Lineage 2
