I keep seeing Captin Blood around the place and it gets me all excited that the space faring finger is back with his planet destruction starship and OORXX launcher, but it just turns out to be just a priate game.

Did anyone else read the Youngblood article? I'm always interested in hearing about projects to bring my first love, comics, to my current flame, PC gaming, but I don't think this game will turn out well. I have my doubts about a game's prospects when the PR guy says "If you've played Splinter Cell or Max Payne 2, just ratch it up a notch, and you'll be playing Youngblood." Uh, Splinter Cell and Max Payne 2 were two totally different gameplay experiences.
(I feel like a nerd point this out, but)

Dumb question/observation but doesn't Star Wars call faster than light travel hyperspace? It's a bit nit picky but it's the first thought I had when I heard the title of the expansion. That and - do you mean I have to give them another $30 to make the game fun?

I commend Alex Seropian, Bill Roper, et al for breaking out of a system that clearly dissatisfies their creative talents, but as the article says Seropian's plan on creating a low cost dev team is largely untested. I really hope it works as well, as this could be a renaissance in innovation. Just as long as the public are smart enough to spot it as they shuffle mindlessly with the latest Sims addon clasped in their sweaty hands to the checkout...
