Why don't we get more moderately-in-the-future games in the style of Deus Ex?

Like there's not a comparable list in the sci-fi shooter market. lol

Hippy acid trips and comments about an unwinnable war. I think they got most of their historical data from Time-Life books. And what is the deal with those buff Viet Cong soldiers? Arnold Schwarzenegger was never that pumped up! Most of the VC were scrawny, short, malnutritioned 3rd world people.

Learn from your mistakes, devs! Vietcong was nearly as painful as the war itself. Either you're making an accurate and terribly annoying game, or you've got a generic tropical game that you say is in Vietnam but could be in any tropical location, real or imagined. Why don't we get more moderately-in-the-future games in the style of Deus Ex? It gives you the freedom to add whatever you need for plot devices while still having a fairly firm grounding in reality. Old wars seen from a largely American perspective are overdone, so unless you're really doing something stunningly unique, you'll be drowned out by all the other games set in the same period (and you'll face the inevitable comparisons).

And, an appropriate joke...how many Vietnam vets does it take to change a lightbulb?
You don't know 'cause you weren't there man!

No, this is actually going to be quite different.

Read a preview in CGW... and there are flamethrowers.

Interesting... over-used comments about over-used game ideas. I guess originality is lacking on all fronts.

ooooohh damnit, I was hoping for a ww2 shooter. Those are rare!

Seriously though, looks exactly like that other Vietnam game(not bfv). Nothing new, run and gun in teh jungle.

So where is Doom3?
