Interplay Eviction?

Interplay facing eviction? on GameSpot picks through an 8-K form filed by Interplay for details like the publisher's "disparity between its cash balance of $1.2 million and working-capital deficit of $14.8 million," and that "As of April 1, 2004, the Company [Interplay] was three months in arrears on the rent obligations for its corporate lease in Irvine, California." This three months worth of rent is to the tune of $450,000. The story goes on to report:
"On April 9, 2004, the Company's lessor served it with a Three-Day Notice to Pay Rent or Surrender Possession," continued the 8-K filing. "If the Company is unable to pay its rent, it may lose its office space, which would interrupt operations and cause substantial harm to business."...

Given that it has been three days since April 9, the eviction matter should have already been settled one way or the other. However, calls and e-mails to Interplay were not returned.

Blame it all on Brian Fargo, the jerk. He ran the company into the ground and then bailed. Showed what kind of 'man' he was...

It's not Brian Fargo's fault. It's those damn Frenchies that took over when Brian left. They can't do crap and only want to make console games

If you're going to make console games make games for consoles and leave it at that. If you're going to make computer games, make computer games that take advantage of the better capabilities of a full-fledged computer compared to a console. For the love of all that is holy quit ruining good computer game concepts by making crappy ports of the console game with all its limitations into neutered computer games.

All this fucking "jack-of-all-trades" "master-of-none" crap is really making contemporary computer games really lame. DX2 was a horrible example. Limited interfaces, low-res textures, saves at checkpoints...all a reflection of the limitations of consoles on PC games.

YOU CAN'T DO BOTH AND DO BOTH WELL.

It's either a PC game or a console game. Make up your freaking minds and quit trying to cover all the bases.

I remember when Interplay was a fresh company and was one of the more innovative companies. *Sigh* It's sad watching a company you used to like slowly stagnate over the years and lose their way. Kind of like Electronic Arts. EA though has managed to make it big despite losing their original vision. Strange universe.

Karma for canning FO3. Now lets hope these sumbitches are forced to sell the property.

What are the odds that Troika will get the winning bid on the Fallout license? Assuming the good happens, and Interplay implodes like the sack of crap it has turned into. I smirk whenever I see the 'by gamers, for gamers' part of the logo when I play their older games, which I paid gladly for (not many new ones to tear into).

Burn in hell, Interplay.

For the death of BG and Freespace, two of my all-time favorite game franchises, they deserve all the nastiness that comes their way.
