now if they did something we wouldn't expect, like...say...cast Julianna Moore as Samus
Or have her go through the whole film in her armor, and then at the end she takes off her helmet and you see it's really a man!

I wonder what happens if the movie ends before a certain time. Guess I'll have to wait for the end of the credits to find out....

The first "Metroid" product was on the now-defunct Nintendo Entertainment System. Realizing the value of owning such a recognizable brand, Nintendo relaunched the "Metroid" franchise with the high-profile release of "Metroid Prime" in November 2002 on its GameCube platform. Other titles, all of which have been best sellers, maintained the franchise's reputation for impressive 3-D graphics and engrossing battle scenes.
Uh, so I've never even owned a Nintendo system, but isn't every single Metroid title aside from Prime and its still-in-development sequel a 2D game?

The last John Woo film I saw was the unbelievably brain-meltingly god-awful "Windtalkers". If his most recent film is as bad as you guys suggest, it doesn't sound as if things have improved since then. I can't much imagine ever wanting to see another of his films...

Dude... Samus is a woman. The only things about her that are going to be "developed" in this movie are her breasts. Yes, I have completely lost faith in the entertainment industry.

you ain't wrong. I keep imagining that they're going to cast Angelina Jolie in the role. As hot as she is, that would just suck.

now if they did something we wouldn't expect, like...say...cast Julianna Moore as Samus, that would rock, cuz even though she's older, she's still way hot...and you can just play on the whole 'she's a battle hardened vet that's still hot' thing.

but what do I know.

Amen. Bastard still has Bloodrayne though =(

And Far Cry and Dungeon Siege and who only knows what else.

"Coming soon, Uwe Boll's Mario Kart!"

Mind you, if you turned that game into a movie where everyone shot at each other and Bowser like blew Mario's head off, that might be kind of cool.

whenever someone options the rights to a game to make a movie out of it, it seems like everyone goes apeshit about "there's no possible way this movie could be good." Granted, there have been plenty of bad game to movie titles *cough MarioBrothersStreetFighterMortalKombat *cough*. But there have been some that weren't bad (Tomb Raider), and at least one that was pretty damn good (Resident Evil).

I guess I'm overly optimistic, but it beats being depressed all the time.

One aspect of Samus Aran I'm interested to see developed is Samus' personality...because she's never had much before.

It's been a long time since I've played the Metroid games. Who was it revield that Samus was a chick? Was it in the first one? Maybe at the end or something?

how's she going to pick anything up if both her arms are guns?

Should I smack you now, or later?

Mind you, I guess its better than Uwe Boll.

Amen. Bastard still has Bloodrayne though =(

As for this movie, with a heavy dependence on CGI, I hope he doesn't botch it like Paycheck.

Woo+Metroid... I can imagine it now...

Samus is pointing a missle at a Metroid, Mother Brain is pointing brain goo at Samus, and Metroid is pointing a tentacle at Mother Brain. Then a nurse runs in and screams "SAVE THE BABIES!!!"

I can't wait!

Oh jeez John Woo on Metroid? might as well just splatter monkey crap all over a Metroid box and film it for 2 hours.
I was forced to watch paycheck again in an airpplace this weekend and since it was making me want to die I actually chose to look at the AirMall catalog while listening to crappy muzak instead of watching that stupid mess of a movie. And this is not the first time this guy makes crap that somehow gets passed as a "good movie".
