is the multiplayer beta part of the download? i didn't see how you get in a multiplayer game.

but ya nin, it is very cool. i'm more of a fps fan than a text adventure guy, but it was wild reading the descriptions and imagining myself actually in the game.

IF Quake is no joke, i played some of it.

I think I saw you in the multiplayer beta. Thing is, you have to type really fast to get any frags. They should be implementing hotkey shortcuts soon.

Also, it may be 1 gb of STORAGE, but they say nothing about bandwidth... from the article, it seems they're targeting it to be a place to store old emails, not constantly retrieve things (and even searching them won't require downloading them, it's on google's server), so they may put a low monthly bandwidth cap, and offer packages for larger sending.

Haha! New one up on the WoW beta site...

Two-Headed Ogres Added as a Playable Race in World of Warcraft

And carrying on the tradition they started years ago, Bungie's, Pimps at Sea (I still think they should actually make this) has been updated as well.

just how long does it take to burn a DVD on, say, an 8x drive?

Bruned about 5 4.7 DVD+Rs last night and took between 8 and 9 minutes, depending on the movie I was backing up. This is on a Plextor 708A

apparently you dont admin servers anywhere (that's not a personal attack, readon)
of course, webmail is different than say outlook, but from an administration point, people have come accustomed to using email, as file storage. I'm partially apart of that problem too. but I admit using msn and yahoo webmails for the purpose of having files or "registered" emails of important things accessible from any location, but it's still storage

Just a thought...

www.doomworld.com has a good one..

I agree with blue on the "stuck in the 90s" theory. just bought a 160gig a few weeks ago, I mean.. 1 gig is like nothing these days, I dont get it why people complain when games such as UT2004 is 5.5gigs, calling it "too big", i mean ~100GB is like the smallest HDD you can get these days.. Besides, google is smart, they KNOW most people will use less than 50 MB anyway, so they'll probably have some scalable system handling it..

My favorite, thus far, is Fark.com's April Fools' jokes.

First of all, you'll randomly connect to some weird page of
theirs when you bring up the site, sometimes.

Second, there are all sorts of crazy filters going on in
the forums. From 1337-speak to yokel(sp?).

Great fun.

this raises another question i've had for some time now. just how long does it take to burn a DVD on, say, an 8x drive? is it the same speed as a CDR? burning 700mb at 8x takes long enough, i can't imagine a few gigs.

At 4x, dvds take about 15-20 minutes to burn 4.5 gig of data. I'm assuming 8x would half this...

hahahah... that's my favorite so far.

a funny thing about the 1 minute DVD burning article; i wonder how many april fool's gags that were posted years ago seemed impossible at the time, but are completely doable tday? i guess that's what some of you were getting at with google's 1 gig email announcement, but it might be funny to dig up some old articles.
